Two days from today Thanksgiving arrives and the official - or is it the unofficial - kickoff to the holiday season. Some of us will be traveling back home for the holiday and some will have family and friends joining us here in Tonto Verde. Whichever way the travel goes - safe travels to all and a Happy Thanksgiving.

Something we have not talked about lately is the wealth of information available on the Tonto Verde website. Click Here's to some of the information can be found in the Communication Center below but that only scratches the surface. Do yourself a favor and Click Here to access the site and just roam around.
Notes From The Pro Shop
Thanksgiving Day Golf Shop Hours 7:00 - 12:00
  • All TVGC owned carts must be returned to the Outside Service Staff by 3:00pm so they can get home and enjoy the Holiday with family and friends.
Annual Black Friday Sale on Friday, November 27th 7:00 - 5:00
  • Nearly all merchandise will be discounted for the entire day.
  • All new items are revealed at 7:00am. Brands to include: Straight Down, Kate Lord, Jamie Sadock, Greg Norman, Peter Millar and more!
  • Mimosas & sweet treats will be complimentary until they are all gone.
  • All members and guests are welcome!
Tonto Verde Golf Shop Holiday Happy Hour on Friday, December 11th 3:00 - 6:00

Regular Winter Golf Shop hours are 7:00 am to 5:00 pm seven days a week.
Update From Marketing
Our new Director of Marketing, Shari Cashman, is making an immediate impact on marketing and promotion for the Tonto Verde Golf Club.   She met with TVGC Board Members Russ Chance and Mike Morehouse and developed a new half page color ad for Arizona Golfer Insider magazine.   (See below).

That was followed by an email blast to all members of the Minnesota Golf Association the first week in November (that produced over 30 email/phone inquires), with more email blasts to come for PGA members in Illinois, Colorado, California and the Pacific northwest in the next 45 days.  On Saturday, November 14th, the Arizona golf radio show, BACKSPIN,  held a live-remote radio broadcast from Tonto Verde Golf Club in the morning, and that afternoon the Tonto-On-Display Community Wide Open House showcased 18 properties.   Over 125 people attended and the Realtors reported high quality and engaged prospects.   Public visitors to our Tonto Verde website has increased by 30% in the last 2 months compared to the same time period one year ago.  Look for new photos coming soon to our  website featuring our Golf Professional, Jeff Ostlund, and photos of our members on the driving range, practice green, and in golf carts.   Thanks, Shari, for your great work and support.  Please feel free to stop by Shari's office right outside the Golf Shop and share any suggestions, recommendations or observations for promoting Tonto Verde.   We are all working together to make Tonto Verde Golf Club the #1 choice for golfers.   
The Tonto Verde App
Tonto Verde now has an App that is a free download from the Google Play Store for the Android Phone or the App Store for the Apple iPhone. Click Here for instructions on downloading the app for your smart phone as well as how to retrieve your username and password. The app is called ClubCentral by ForeTees.
  • Please note that once you log in for the first time you will remain logged in until you get a new phone or reload the app! You will not need to remember your "one time" username and password.
  • The app is available for smartphones and also iPad and Android Tablets.

From The MGA
Cart Path Only is over.  Over the Cart Path Only time on the Ranch many of the divots did not get filled. Also, there are a lot of unrepaired divots that need to be fixed on the Peaks.  So now that we are back to 90 degrees on both courses let's make a concerted effort to fix these unfilled divots. Make sure you fill yours and any others that you see. If you are fortunate enough to land your fairway shot on the green the first thing you should do is to look for and repair your ball mark.  The greens are soft and you do leave a dent that must be repaired. Like with the fairway divots let's keep our courses in top notch condition so on the greens fix yours and one other.
The first MGA Shotgun and Dinner Meeting is December 2 with golf at 12:30 pm and dinner to follow. If you haven't signed up yet you can Click Here and do it now.

Set your alarms for 7:00 a.m. on January 2, 2016 to register your teams for the very popular 4-Member Tournament scheduled for Tuesday, February 2nd and Thursday February 4th.  Registration for this event always fills up fast so don't be tardy for the party.

The We Are the World Tournament was held on November 15th. A full field of couples were good sports and "mudded" it out in off and on rain and cool temperatures.  Dinner afterward was enjoyed by all.

Sign up on ForeTees on December 1st for the 3rd annual Match Play tournament which will run from January 1st to April 1st. This is a round robin tournament and each couple will arrange 4 matches during these 3 months. Flights will be created on combined handicap index. The cost per couple is $10.  Questions??  Marian Hamilton or the Pro Shop.
 
The next Friday Night Couples event will be on December 4th with a 3:00 shotgun followed by dinner off the menu.  Our first event of the season welcomed 20 couples!  Being paired by the Pro Shop is preferred but, if you wish, you can request to play with another couple.  
From The NDA
The next NDA golf, meeting and lunch is December 1st for the Christmas Party.  Please bring an unwrapped gift for Toys for Tots.  Please forgo your pink colors and wear a Christmas sweater or dress in Christmas colors.

The Christmas trees are up, so it will be a festive occasion with all the toys, Santa and the Verde firemen coming to collect the toys!

From The Lady Putters
Following a very regal Opening Day event, Lady Putters got down to business with regular putting activities on Wednesday mornings.  Golf Professional Ashli Helstrom organized two fun fall games for the Putters on November 11 and 18.  Because of the Thanksgiving holiday, the group's next event will occur on Wednesday, Dec. 2.  However, Putters may Click Here to register now on Foretees for the Dec. 2 date.  Lady Putters can also mark their calendars for the annual Christmas Party and Toys for Tots Event on Dec. 16.  Lady Putters meet each Wednesday morning with Registration at 10 and Putting promptly at 10:30.  Contact Sue Long at 480-471-4602 or seplong@cox.net if you would like to join.
