The Golf Shop and Players Services are closed on Christmas Day. Members are encouraged to play golf, but there will be no additional services available. If you decide to bring a guest, your member account will be billed on Saturday, December 26th. Enjoy the day and Merry Christmas!
From The Handicap Committee
Scores While Playing Alone: The USGA has instituted some changes to the Handicap System for 2016.  As a qualifying Club which must satisfy the requirements of the USGA in order to maintain a player's USGA index, we feel that it is important to inform you of this information.  Kindly follow the link below for specific details:

The fifth bullet in this article addresses the matter of whether the posting of a round is valid when a player plays alone.  It has now been determined that to satisfy the key System premise of peer review, scores made while playing alone will no longer be valid for handicap purposes.  Therefore, if you happen to be playing by yourself, please do not post that round.  Also, please ask the golf shop to remove your name from the tee sheet, in order to avoid a Missed Posting.  Thank you for your commitment to maintaining the integrity of the game.

USGA Handicap System Club Compliance Checklist: The requirements of the USGA for a Club which maintains a player's index are outlined in the Club Compliance Checklist (Click Here).  The Tonto Verde Golf Club is in compliance with these 17 items.  We are working on improving our performance relative to a couple of these requirements namely items 9 and 11.  With respect to ensuring posting accuracy, we have some soft procedures in place to identify and correct scores that have been posted inaccurately.  Such procedures sometimes involve the group commissioners; sometimes they involve the Golf Shop; and sometimes they involve the Handicap Committee representatives from the several Associations (MGA, WGA, NDA).  The Handicap Committee has included making further improvements in this area in its 2015-16 Objectives and Plan document (Click Here).  With respect to making scoring records and index listings available, there is some capability within ForeTees as it exists today.  Additional measures will be taken in the coming months to improve the availability of this information.

The TVGC and the Handicap Committee are committed to maintaining our compliance with this and all USGA requirements regarding player handicaps.  Thank you again for your support for these efforts as we all work together to maintain the integrity of the game.
From The MGA
This is a busy time for everyone but don't forget the upcoming events that begin in the first week of January.  On January 6th we have a Shotgun Event followed by Dinner and a Short Meeting.  At present we have 88 members signed up.  On January 11th there is an Interclub Match at Camelback CC. Sign Up on the website and Captain Bill Banholzer will be selecting the team for the match.  We are looking for a late season push to retain the Cup for our trophy case.  Flighted Match Play starts on January 13 we have 38 members registered. You can Click Here to sign up for all of the mentioned events. Merry Christmas to all from the MGA.  Let's remember what this season is all about.
From The WGA
The Women's Interclub teams have all played 2 complete matches this fall.  Cactus has won 3 matches and lost 1, Sonoran has won 2 and lost 2, and Roadrunner is cumulative stroke play throughout the season.  It's always a
very tight race until the finish in that league!   The pictures show Sonoran playing a FRIGID match at Anthem in November - we all wore every single item of clothing we brought with us - and a beautiful sunrise as we departed for Paradise Valley at 6:45am in mid-December.

Don't forget to set your alarms for 7:00 a.m. on January 2, 2016 to register your team for the very popular 4-Member tournament scheduled for Tuesday, February 2nd and Thursday February 4th.

"It'll be here before you know it."  The 2016 Hohokum Guest event is scheduled to begin with practice rounds on March 13-15 and tournament rounds on March 16-17.  Sign-up also begins on January 2, 2016 at 7:00 a.m.

If you're planning to attend the WGA meeting and brunch on January 12, please sign up on the Tonto Verde website as soon as registration opens so the clubhouse has an accurate count of brunch attendees well in advance of the event.

The WGA wishes all its members a joyous holiday season.

From The Lady Putters
Tonto Verde Lady Putters ended 2015 with a festive Holiday Party on December 16.  In spite of a wintery chill in the air, a good crowd of putters enjoyed the bright sunshine. To celebrate the season and support Operation Santa Claus, all Lady Putters brought an unwrapped toy for Santa's pack.  Rio Verde Fire District personnel collected the toys for distribution and Santa made an appearance to supervise their efforts and wish everyone a Merry Christmas.

Lady Putters will meet next on Wednesday, January 6. Registration will begin at 10 and putting at 10:30. Click Here to sign up on ForeTees.  For information about joining Lady Putters, contact Sue Long, Treasurer at 480-550-2509 or seplong@cox.net.
