From The Golf Committee
As a reminder to those who are returning this fall, the wash to the left of #9 Ranch and the wash between #9 and #10 Peaks have been designated as lateral water hazards. Should you find your ball in a lateral water hazard, your options are:
- Play the ball from within the hazard as it lies without grounding your club. No penalty
- Replay your shot from the spot where it was last played. 1-shot penalty
- Play a shot from any point along a line that extends from the hole back through the point that the ball last crossed the margin of the hazard yet no closer to the hole than the point that the ball last crossed the hazard. 1-shot penalty
- Drop a ball that is no more than 2-club lengths from the point that the ball last crossed the hazard yet no closer to the hole. 1-shot penalty
- Follow the same procedure as in #4 above yet dropping from a point that is equidistance from the hole yet on the opposite side of the hazard. 1-shot penalty
Also, we will have our new electric cart fleet soon. The committee reminds you that: Effective November 1, 2015, gas carts shall no longer be used on the Tonto Verde golf courses. Members with gas carts in use at Tonto Verde as of July 1, 2015 may continue to use those carts until replaced.

Handicap Committee Update
Welcome back to all of Tonto's returning golfers. Over the summer, the Handicap Committee has developed a Charter which is posted on the website under Tonto Verde Golf Club Documents. We have also developed a statement of our Objectives and Plans for the coming golf season. The Objectives and Plans document is posted on the website and you can Click Here to review. Kindly refer to both of these documents to better understand how your Handicap Committee is working on your behalf and what activities we expect to undertake over the next 6-7 months.
Needless to say, timely and accurate posting of scores by all players is critical to ensuring both fair and fun competitions. It's not optional for any of us. Rather, it is required of all of us in order for our club to maintain our individual USGA handicap index. As you will see in the Objectives and Plans document, we will be implementing more stringent measures in the coming months to improve on our past performance in these areas. Maintaining an accurate index begins and ends with you! Thank you in advance for your diligence in complying with the TVGC Handicap Posting Policy.
Your Handicap Committee,
Steve Calandrella - Handicap Committee Chairperson
Ray Borth - MGA Representative
Pam Schouten - WGA Representative
Val Jessen - NDA Representative
Doug King - Golf Committee Liaison
Justin Davis - Golf Shop Representative

Electric Cart Facility Update
In the October 13th Divot Digest I reported we had two issues to be resolved: The Electric Meter Room in the Clubhouse needed to be brought up to Code and Rio Verde Fire District required a Sprinkler System. Here is the current status:
- The Electric Meter room has been brought up to code and SRP is scheduled for November 9th at 1:00 AM. This will require a total shutdown of power to the Clubhouse. This will have minimal impact on Clubhouse services.
- Golf Cart delivery will now be delayed until November 9th to coincide with the SRP hook up.
- Sprinkler System was discussed at the October 20th Fire District Board Meeting and it was determined that a sprinkler system was required. A Motion was passed to allow the TVGC to operate up to 360 days without a sprinkler system and to hire a Fire Protection Engineer to recommend an adequate system for the building.
- Floor and Pathways appear to be dirt and some have expressed concern. This is a compressed aggregate substance and will be watered down to compact the soil and finally Soil Tack will be applied to solidify the surface.
- Landscaping will be designed and installed by Pamm Torrance and Travis Blamires. This will commence in mid-November when Travis and crew are done with over-seed.
- Event Space will be adjacent to the front of the Cart Facility. This will provide a more user-friendly area for gathering after Golf Events. Jeff and Crew have started construction for the Score Boards.
- Electric Golf Facility Open House was planned to coincide with the Welcome Back party on October 31st. In view of the above this will be postponed until a later date.
Thanks to all Committee Members for their work and support.

On Wednesday, November 11, (Veterans Day) Tonto Verde wants to especially recognize those who have served in the military on behalf of the United States and freedom.
If you are a Veteran, be sure to check in at the pro-shop that day where you will receive deserved recognition from the Tonto Verde Golf Club, the Tonto Verde Association and everyone at Tonto Verde. In addition to our thanks, you will also receive a commemorative American flag pin. We hope you will wear the pin proudly throughout the day so your friends at Tonto can thank you personally. After golf or any time that day, wear your pin and receive one FREE tap beer in the TV grill or restaurant. Throughout the day, the pro shop also will be conducting a Veterans Day raffle to allow everyone a chance to win a $300 gift certificate generously donated by the pro shop. All proceeds from the raffle will be donated to the Wounded Warriors Project, on behalf of Tonto Verde. Raffle tickets are $5.00 each or five for $20.00. From The MGA
Last chance to sign-up for Opening Day Breakfast and Shotgun Wednesday, October 28th. Click Here to sign up on the "Golf Events" page. We start Fall Best Ball (two-man) on November 4th. To date, we have 59 teams and we could use one more two-some. Get a partner or contact the pro shop and they will assist you.
We are into our overseed time and we all need to remember to take our sand and seed bottles out to the fairway and repair our divots and any other unrepaired divots we find. Remember we have extra sand/seed mix on Peaks #3, #7, at the turn, #12 and #15. Fill them to the top. Every divot we fix now is one less we have to worry about later. See you at Opening Day!
