A message to all golf members:
Recently a communication and attachments regarding Good Neighbor Policy (GNP) discussions from the Rio Verde Community Association (RVCA) were sent to all Tonto Verde Association (TVA) homeowners.
Based on some of the comments and rumors being circulated, the TVGC Board felt it should make it clear as to where it stands on the issue.
First, it's important to understand that prior to this most recent proposal the provisions of the GNP, negotiated between the RVCA and the TVA, have never included the TVGC or the sharing of golf facilities. The current proposal from RVCA for continuing the GNP policy insists on a sharing of golf facilities as an integral element in their desire to offer "four courses" in their marketing efforts.
The most recent proposal includes a provision for unrestricted access to TVGC golf courses at no cost to Rio. The cost of this access as proposed, is not to be paid by Rio but rather by TVA members, of which approximately 50% are golf members.
The TVGC Board has firmly laid out and communicated repeatedly to Rio Verde its core policies and principles that it is imperative that we will not entertain any golf proposal which:
- Considers a merger or combination of our two golf operations, and/or
- Impacts member access to preferred tee times, and/or
- Causes any negative impact to the TVGC financial model or its members.
Based on numerous financial considerations that we felt would have a negative impact on the TVGC, along with a significant disruption of member tee time access, the TVGC Board has determined the current RVCA proposal is not in the best interests of its members and has absolutely rejected it.
More information will be provided to the community regarding the Good Neighbor Policy at the Tonto Verde Association Board meeting scheduled for Tuesday, October 20th, at 8:00 am.
