Greetings!
Here is the November Divot Digest. As noticed earlier we are now on a twice monthly communication schedule and the November Divot Update will be distributed on Tuesday November 25th.
Over the past few months someone has been removing promotional golf posters from the bathrooms on the golf course as soon as they are posted on the bulletin boards. A lot of work has been put into making these signs and it is hard to understand how or why someone is doing this. Whoever you are - please do not remove any information pertaining to golf until the event is over!

 | From The President | The Board of Directors met on November 6th for its regularly scheduled meeting at the clubhouse. All members are invited to attend Board meetings which are held on the first Thursday of the month at 8:00 am.
This month a reporter, Bob Burns, from the Fountain Hills Times met with Mike Morehouse, Jeff Ostlund and me to learn more about the Tonto Verde Golf Club. The result of our meeting was a very nice article (November 5th edition) on the Club, its activities and some wonderful pictures. We hope to have more "PR" informational pieces in the future which will be coordinated through Marianne Johnson. You can see the full article below.
Formal action by the Board included:
- Accepting the financial audit prepared by McGladrey & Co. for the year ended June 30, 2014. The report was again issued with an "unqualified opinion". The report will be posted on the website for member review.
- Approval of a revised Disability Flag Policy and application.
- Approval of some new membership initiatives which will be posted when the final documentation is complete.
- Annual approval of six committee charters which outline the responsibilities and authorities of major committees. These were shared and discussed by all committee chairs so we have a clear definition of "who is doing what".
Tenna Dillon, Controller, reported that the October financial statements were ready for review, a 30-45 day improvement from previous years. Last fall with the recommendation of the Financial Operations Committee we changed to the Northstar accounting system. One year after conversion we now are able to access and complete our financial data needs on a substantially improved schedule.
At the December 4th Board meeting Jim Uffelman, Green Committee Chair, will be presenting the results and recommendations of the irrigation audit conducted by an independent expert over the summer. We extend an invitation to all members to come and learn about the findings. The posted meeting agenda will provide an approximate time for those just interested in this presentation.
We welcome members back for another fun, friendly and exciting golf season.

 | Notes From Your Pro | Greetings golf members! The season is off to fast start with near record participation in opening league events. Thanks to everyone involved for helping make them a success. If you are having any issues signing up for events on tontoverde.org, don't hesitate to ask the golf shop for help. It's easier for us to provide technical support than it is to deal with unexpected additions and/or cancellations in the minutes leading up to the start of a shotgun. Afternoons are the best time to bring in your tablets, laptops, and mobile phones for technical assistance as we won't be tied up with checking golfers in.
Our first multi-vendor Demo Day is scheduled for this Thursday, November 13th, on the south driving range.
- Ping, Callaway, Cobra, Cleveland and Srixon will be showing off their new equipment from 11am - 3pm.
- Ecco will be conducting shoe fittings from 1pm - 4pm.
- Scottsdale Golf Club Exchange will also be on hand providing cash offers for your used golf clubs.
4th Annual Golf Shop Black Friday Sale Friday, November 28th from 7:00 - 5:00
TVGC is pleased to announce $50 Guests Fees on Sundays through the end of 2014. That's right, put the football game on record and show some friends and/or family a great time on the links.
Pace of Play clocks have been added mid-way through each nine on both golf courses. These clocks are intended to make you more aware of your group's position in relation to Time Par on either course. Think smart about your habits on the golf course and be a leader when it comes to pace of play.
Our fourth annual Employee-Member golf tournament is scheduled for Monday, December 8th at noon. The event is a 9-Hole scramble and teams are comprised of one maintenance worker, one golf staff, one restaurant staff and one member. Sign up is now available on Foretees. This is an excellent opportunity to get to know some familiar faces in a fun, pressure-free setting.
Congratulations to Angela LeVangie for being named our Employee of the Month for November! Angela's consistent drive and ambition to take on the big challenges are greatly appreciated. She proves on a daily basis how energy and persistence can conquer any obstacle.
Lastly I'd like to briefly remind everyone of the re-spiking and cart detailing services our outside staff offers. The guys are eager to help with any of your needs from club cleaning to putting air in tires and/or the occasional swimming pool float.
Until next time, keep them flying long and straight!

 | From The Course | Welcome back to all of our northern friends, great to see everyone's faces again. As most of you know we've had a long and tiring summer, what seemed like storm after storm after storm. Today, we still have clean up work to do as a result of the summer storms! Overseed has come and gone, we had our challenges with the Ranch course, we've had a lot of Bermuda bounce back and we continue to spot seed thin areas and try and catch up while the weather remains cooperative. The Peaks course came in a lot smoother and with fewer headaches! Again, if the weather remains cooperative, we will allow carts out on the Peaks course right around Thanksgiving. Currently we are catching up on detail work, edging tee boxes, removing overgrown plant material that has been encroaching, spraying weeds and also catching up on bunker maintenance. Please help us out this season by using the 90 degree rule as it is supposed to be used. Drive down the cart path until you reach the first ball, then enter the fairway at 90 degrees. Remain in the fairway until your final approach shot is hit, then exit back to the cart path at 90 degrees. Too often we see people in a hurry and entering the fairway at the first possible opportunity wearing out the same piece of turf that we used to in years past with the "gates'. On behalf of the Golf Course Maintenance team, Dean Hall Golf Course Superintendent |
 | From The Golf Committee |
The disability flag policy was recently clarified: Please fill out the annual form with the Golf Shop (no doctor's signature required). Rules were clarified to say that you are allowed to drive on the par 3s using the 90 degree rule while displaying this flag. Please keep your golf carts at LEAST 10 yards from all bunkers, 20 yards from the greens and off all tee boxes.
We request that those using this policy display their disability flag at all times while on the golf courses. Our goal is to encourage all our members to be able to play golf for as long and as often as physically possible.

One winner will be crowned in each flight according to their total points. Also different from last year - handicaps will not be frozen, but will be current at the time you play the match; and each player will be able to commit to a set of tees on each course before the tournament begins.
There will be one more Friday Night Couples event before the holidays on Dec. 5 at 3:00. Nine holes of fun golf and dinner following off the menu. This is a scramble format and a great way to meet some new couples!
