Greetings!
HAPPY NEW YEAR! 2013 is here and as you can see in today's Newsletter exciting things are happening here at TVGC ranging from the lawsuit wins to designation as a GEM club demo days and on to the full calendar of events. We here at TVGC are fortunate to have a very active club with events and participation opportunities to meet most everybody's game. You will want to peruse the Event Calendar on ForeTees to make certain that you do not miss any of the events.
In the last edition some of the links did not work properly. These issues have been addressed and all links are now working. As noted below, on links that go to ForeTees, like those to the Golf Event Calendar, you will have to login using your ForeTees credentials. The only exception to this is if you are already logged in to Tonto Verde website in which case you will go directly to ForeTees.

 | Tonto Wins Lawsuits |
The Courts have ruled in favor of Tonto Verde Golf Club in lawsuits brought by three surrendered members. The surrendered members claimed they were entitled to a refund of the full initiation fee they paid when joining. The Club argued that as a result of a series of Bylaw amendments, the surrendered members were only entitled to the amount of the initiation fee being charged as of the time of the resale of their memberships, or $20,000. The courts agreed with the Club and ordered the parties to proceed accordingly.
The three surrendered members have been paid and have released all related claims against the Club. Click Here to see a copy of the Court's actual order.
The Club's attorney fees and court costs have been paid by the Club's Insurance Company net of the Club's $5,000 deductible. Contributions by the Developer and Insurance Company toward payments to the surrendered members will result in a net cost to the Club of $500.
It is hoped that these victories will clarify these matters and relieve the Club of the uncertainty surrounding the rights of surrendered members.

 | Notes From Your Pro
| Greetings golfers and a Happy New Year to all! It is estimated that 45% of Americans will make be making New Year's resolutions. Here are a few that I'd recommend considering for your golf game: - Regrip your clubs. If your grips are slick, you're likely holding the club tighter which will affect your feel and ultimately your scores.
- Sign up for a private lesson or clinic series. The new bulletin board posted outside the golf shop will always inform you what pros are available for lessons on any given day.
- Keep your stats. Greens in regulation, fairways hit and putts made are easy to track and will provide you with valuable insight about your game.
- Play to your strengths. Recognize your "Go To" shots and put yourself in a better position to succeed. Attack your weaknesses during practice sessions.
- Get your cart detailed, shoes re-spiked and/or shined. Outside Services are happy to assist with any of your needs and will definitely remind you that if you look good, you'll feel and play better.
2013 Demo Days will feature TaylorMade, Cobra, Adams, Ping, Cleveland and Nike. Definite dates and times will be announced in the mid-January Newsletter. Bridgestone will be on the range for a ball fitting on January 31st. Appointment sign-up will be available shortly. A reminder to all members who haven't yet picked up a Golfer's Guide (1 per household) to ask for one the next time they are in the golf shop. Lastly, I'd like to congratulate Matt Finch who passed his PGA Level 2 testing in Florida in December. He is now one level away from obtaining his Class "A" PGA certification. Way to go Matt! |
 | Pace Of Play |
There is an old adage - No Golf Course Can Play Any Faster Than The Slowest Group On The Course - and as we move into the "Busy" season here at Tonto Verde Golf Club pace of play will become increasingly important. Nobody likes to wait on every shot as it works to kill any momentum we have. So, what are things we can do to not unduly delay play?
- Play ready golf - if you are not in somebody's line hit when you get to your ball
- In a team or partner game if you can no longer contribute pick up your ball
- Do not spend more time than necessary searching for your ball in the desert - the rule is 5 minutes but most of us can determine in less time than that whether or not we will find our ball.
- As soon as you reach the green begin reading the break and lining up your putt. When it's your turn be prepared to step right up and pull the trigger.
- When putting a club back in your bag, grab the next club you're going to use to avoid an additional pit stop behind your cart. Sometimes you may not know what club you'll be using next, but it definitely saves time when you know you're putting or hitting a driver off the next tee.
- If possible when sharing a cart, drop the first player off at his/her ball and drive ahead to the second ball. The first player can walk over to the cart while the second player is hitting their shot.
- Help struggling golfers rake traps, fill in divots and repair ball marks. We've all been there and a helping hand is surely appreciated when you're having one of those holes.

 | Tonto Verde Golf Club Designated As A GEM Club By The AWGA
|
Kris Amborn and Liz Brandanger:
As the AWGA Communications Rep for your area, I wanted to inform you that your club, Tonto Verde Country Club, has been selected as a GEM Designated Club. You are probably familiar with the GEM program, which is designed to rate courses by women for women. What does this mean for Tonto Verde?
- GEM designated facilities will receive additional advertising on the AWGA website, newsletter and news blasts. The courses will also be featured in the PVTT and SATT golf magazines (January, 2013 cover story on PVTT).
- Facilities may utilize the program description and logo's/marks in their own materials
- Greater exposure to female golfers
What is next:
- Announcement during the AWGA Annual meeting + multiple feature stories as noted above in various golf publications & AWGA member news.
- Gem logo and marks to be sent to the 22 selected courses for use in advertising and publicity campaigns as needed.
We show you as the State Reps (18 and 9 hole) for Tonto Verde CC so we wanted you to have the heads up about this wonderful honor for your club! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
Juanita Rosenfeld

| We Need Your Help! |
Please help us raise the visibility of Tonto Verde and the TVGC on the Internet!
The TVA has employed a Search Engine Optimization (SEO) company to help us raise our visibility on the web. This will help Tonto Verde attract people who are searching the web for places to retire.
When doing an internet search (through Google, Bing, etc), did you know that:
- The number of times people access a website raises that website on the list
- Specific key words that are used on pages associated with that website raises that website on the list
- The current updates and information puts the website higher on the list
We need to keep our website "hot" and filled with positive, current, interesting, and diverse information about Tonto Verde, our community, activities and surroundings. One of the ways we do this is through the "BLOG" spot on our website.
We're looking for volunteers to write blogs for the website. We'll provide you with guidelines about blogging, and topics (if you don't have enough of your own), but generally, we need you to just share an experience, event, or observations about TV and the area. It helps people looking for an "Active Adult Community" on the web to learn just how active and wonderful this community is.
If you are interested in helping Tonto Verde by writing one or two blogs a month, please contact Samantha Bryner at Samantha@TontoVerdeAssociation.com. |
 | Did You Know...? |
We all know about the rental program here in the Verdes, but DID YOU KNOW that we also have a temporary membership program at the Tonto Verde Golf Club? The combination is a great way for those with an interest in Tonto Verde to fully sample the wonderful lifestyle we enjoy. By the way, one need not be a renter at the Verdes to take advantage of this program. Meaning, those living in the valley can avail themselves of this program as well.
This temporary membership provides full access to the Golf Club. At the conclusion of temporary membership, they have an opportunity to use a large portion of their fees to be applied toward a permanent status of membership.
For more detail, Click Here to see the full program or contact Gary Loving at: gloving@tontogolf.com or at
