Commuting Matters Breakfast Forum
|

Executive Director Andrea Leary worked with MassCommute and the MAPC to host a breakfast forum on October 8th. The forum presented information about how municipalities and employers can work together to reduce traffic, improve environmental quality, and provide better transportation options for employees and residents. At the forum, the results of the two organizations' white papers were presented. Additionally, a panel representing both the public and private sectors discussed their efforts to implement successful transportation demand management (TDM) initiatives.

Effective last month, the MVRTA bus routes that serve the River Road area of Andover were reduced to one. Route 76 was cancelled and Route 37-Beacon Street has been extended to serve the Marriott/Springhill area, which includes Minuteman Park. Route 37 runs every 30 minutes during weekday peak rush hour times and it runs on the hour at off-peak and weekend times.

MassDOT's Adopt Visibility Program
|

MassDOT's Highway Division is looking for corporations to sponsor its Adopt Visibility program. They are specifically looking for a group willing to adopt and maintain the traffic island located across from the MassDOT maintenance facility on the River Road Bridge over I-93 in Andover. The island is currently raised and contains trees with mulched beds. There is no minimum required for sponsorship.
