Partnership Opportunities form
Why "FROM the Farm"?
Farm & Food Care has partnered with Oktoberfest organizers to bring Ontario's bounty to the Tri-City area. While not directly on the farm, Breakfast from the Farm will retain all the qualities that have made past events such a success, including all-Ontario food products, interactive agricultural displays, and plenty of farmer and industry volunteers.
Through this partnership, Breakfast from the Farm will easily reach well over the targeted 2000 plus people.

The Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest organization will also help market and promote the event, and the Oktoberfest car show  - another highly popular attraction - will be running simultaneously, attracting even more visitors to Waterloo.

Your support is critical.
A wide range of interactive agricultural displays, keen volunteers, and local Ontario food products are needed. If interested in supporting the event, please see the Partnership Opportunities form, or contact:

"Past Chair" position added to executive
The Farm & Food Care Ontario Board of Directors has expanded its executive to five members.

The position of "past chair" has been established, with long-time chair and board member John Maaskant taking the inaugural spot. The goal of the new position is to provide historical knowledge and context for new members, while serving as a mentor for the new chair.

"John has been the Farm & Food Care Ontario chair since its inception, as well as chair of its predecessor organizations since 2003, says Tracy Hussey, executive director of Farm & Food Care Ontario. "He has a lot of experience and expertise that new
members can draw from."

The position of past chair will exist within a one year renewable term, or until a new executive chair is elected.

Lake Erie farm tour ~ July 9, 2016
Agriculture and environment ministry employees learn about the realities and innovations of Lake Erie-area farms.

On July 9, Farm & Food Care hosted a tour for 50 senior government staff to highlight on-farm phosphorus solutions for Lake Erie.

Working in conjunction with the Ontario Federation of Agriculture and Christian Farmers Federation of Ontario, participants saw nutrient water recycling in action at a hydroponic greenhouse in Chatham, cover crops at a farm in Merlin, as well as the Rondeau wetlands and an on-farm water quality monitoring site. Over lunch, farmers and retailers spoke about the the 4-R Nutrient Stewardship program.

The tour brought government and industry stakeholders together, fostering significant discussion. Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive.
