"Divine Providence commands us to help our brothers and sisters in their grave temporal and spiritual
needs." - St. Vincent Pallotti

St. Vincent Pallotti, patron saint of the Catholic Apostolate Center, founder of the Union of Catholic Apostolate and of the Society of the Catholic Apostolate (Pallottine Fathers and Brothers), believed strongly that as apostles, we are called to share the love and mercy of Jesus Christ with all. During this Jubilee of Mercy, Pope Francis has challenged us to live more deeply the spiritual and corporal works of mercy. Through Pallotti's many activities and in collaboration with others, he evangelized with love and mercy. This newsletter, on the 221st anniversary of his birth, tells more about his life, activities, and spirituality. Pallottine spirituality can assist all of the baptized in living as apostles or, as Pope Francis calls it, missionary disciples.

Every year, Pallotti's birthday is a National Day of Service for all members of the Union of Catholic Apostolate in the United States. During this Jubilee of Mercy, all members of the Union of Catholic Apostolate throughout the world have been asked also to create a common project that witnesses the spiritual and corporal works of mercy. You are invited to do the same, especially for families and their needs.

May the charity of Christ urge us on!

In God, the Infinite Love,

Webinar Highlight
Evangelii Gaudium: Moving the Church from Maintenance to Mission

In his apostolic exhortation, Evangelii Gaudium, Pope Francis invites all to a personal encounter with Jesus Christ.  We are not to keep the faith to ourselves, but are sent as missionary disciples to transform the world to Christ. We are all called to be Spirit-filled disciples, not in a maintenance mode but rather a missionary one (Evangelii Gaudium,118-120,259-262).

How can we accomplish this call to be a missionary disciple today?

St. Vincent Pallotti

After his ordination, St. Vincent Pallotti committed himself to keep alive the Christian faith of the people of Rome. His pastoral presence on all fronts urged him on to become an animator of collaboration among clergy, religious, and laity.

The multi-faceted apostolic activities of St. Vincent Pallotti were based on his personal experience of God's love and mercy. He profoundly believed that the motivation of divine action is infinite love. Therefore, men and women, created in the image and likeness of God, can find the full meaning of life only when they love God and their neighbor: "My Jesus, anyone who does not love cannot live" (St. Vincent Pallotti).

  • Born on April 21st, 1795, in Rome to Pietro Paolo Pallotti and Maria Magdalena De Rossi.
  • Ordained a priest on May 16th, 1818.
  • Profoundly believed that the motivation of divine action is infinite love.
  • For Vincent Pallotti, Mary, Queen of Apostles, is the perfect model of spiritual and apostolic life.
  • Founded the Union of Catholic Apostolate, in which the baptized participate in the mission of the Church as the realization of a common goal, on January 9th, 1835.
  • Died in Rome, at San Salvatore in Onda, on the January 22nd, 1850.
  • On January 20th, 1963, he was canonized by St. John XXIII.
St. Vincent Pallotti, patron of the Catholic Apostolate Center, pray for us and help us to revive faith, rekindle charity and form apostles!
