In these two weeks, the Holy Father is convening an Extraordinary Synod of Bishops that will be dedicated to discussing the "Pastoral Challenges for the Family in the Context of the New Evangelization" and lay the groundwork for next year's Ordinary General Synod of Bishops. In the midst of these meetings, the Church in the United States is preparing to welcome families from across the globe, and even the Holy Father himself, to the city of Philadephia for the 2015 World Meeting of Families.  In light of these significant occurrences in the life of the Church, we have compiled a Resource Page where you can find more in-depth information about the Synods. This page will be updated over the course of the Extraordinary Synod with important information and developments.

We invite you visit this webpage and share it with others! As always, if you have any suggestions of additional resources that should be included, we welcome your feedback

Each Wednesday evening, hundreds of students at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. gather for an hour of Eucharistic Adoration. Last week, our Director Fr. Frank Donio, S.A.C. and a few staff members had the privilege of joining the students in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. Fr. Frank presided and preached on the day's gospel and the feast day of Saint Thrse of the Child Jesus. For updates like this, follow us on FacebookTwitter, and Instagram.

Children in the New Evangelization

In my kindergarten class, there is one little girl who loves to ask questions about faith. After going to Mass in the chapel last week, she asked me, "Who was the almost naked man on the wall in pain?" I smiled and answered, "Jesus, because he loves you very much." While contemplating this, a few minutes went by until she had another question. She asked, "Why do they give cookies at church and why didn't I get one?" These and many other inquiries were made that day, so it struck me: how can we as faithful Catholic adults help young children better understand our traditions, history, and faith? We must understand as children do. Click here to read more

"In your journey as a family, you share so many beautiful moments: meals, rest, housework, leisure, prayer, trips and pilgrimages, and times of mutual support... Nevertheless, if there is no love then there is no joy, and authentic love comes to us from Jesus. He offers us his word, which illuminates our path; he gives us the Bread of life which sustains us on our journey."

Quote:
"The rosary, though clearly Marian in character, is at heart a Christ-centered prayer. It has all the depth of the gospel messge in its entirety. It is an echo of the prayer of Mary, her perennial Magnificat for the work of the redemptive Incarnation which began in her virginal womb."
-St. John Paul II, The Rosary of the Virgin Mary
