Catholic Apostolate Center Newsletter
Greetings!
Today marks the beginning of our 40 day journey of Lent, a period for each of us to grow in faith and humility through prayer, fasting and almsgiving. However, in light of the Holy Father's announcement on Monday that he will be stepping-down as the Bishop of Rome, Lent brings on a greater meaning of importance this year. This Lenten season will call on each of us as apostles to pray for the needs of our Church universal and especially for those entrusted with the task of leading Her in this time of transition.
Regarding the Holy Father's retirement, Director of the Catholic Apostolate Center Fr. Frank Donio S.A.C. stated,
Pope Benedict XVI always emphasized the intrinsic connection between faith and charity, similar to St. Vincent Pallotti, founder of the Union of Catholic Apostolate and patron saint of the Catholic Apostolate Center. His humility in this decision is a great example of a true servant of Jesus Christ. The Holy Father has been a gift to the Church, and the effects of his Petrine ministry will be felt for years to come.
Let us be inspired this Lent by the example of Pope Benedict XVI as we use this time to both rekindle charity in our own lives and revive faith. An ideal first place to find this example is in the Holy Father's Message for Lent 2013 in which he emphasizes the importance of faith and charity, particularly in this Year of Faith. As always, we will walk this Lenten journey with you and welcome feedback on the resources we can provide to assist you.
May Mary, Queen of Apostles, continue to guide our Holy Father, our Mother Church and each of us this Lenten season.
In God the Infinite Love,
The Catholic Apostolate Center Team
