10 Ways Catholics Can Live the Year of Faith
Urbi et Orbi
Catholic Apostolate Center Newsletter

Greetings!

The staff here at the Catholic Apostolate Center hopes this finds you and your loved ones enjoying every great blessing in this new year of 2013! We give great thanks to you for your support of our ministry, especially over this last year which has seen the immense workings of the Holy Spirit in our growth and development of new resources to serve the needs of the Church. We have even greater things in store for the coming year and sincerely hope you'll allow us to continue to serve you!

As we begin this new year, let us take a moment to reflect upon the words of the Holy Father during his recent Christmas "Urbi et Orbi" message,

"God has done everything; he has done the impossible: he was made flesh. His all-powerful love has accomplished something which surpasses all human understanding: the Infinite has become a child, has entered the human family. And yet, this same God cannot enter my heart unless I open the door to him. Porta fidei! The door of faith! We could be frightened by this, our inverse omnipotence. This human ability to be closed to God can make us fearful. But see the reality which chases away this gloomy thought, the hope that conquers fear: truth has sprung up! God is born! "The earth has yielded its fruits" (Ps 67:7)."

Although this new year may also bring other personal goals and resolutions, let us make one of them to rekindle our faith and "open the door" to Christ. If we all could only work towards this goal, who knows what 2013 may hold in store for each of us! Our prayer is that through our ministry we may aid you in your journey of faith this year as we all come to know the Truth and the Light that was sent to us on that blessed Christmas morn!

May the charity of Christ urge you on!

The Catholic Apostolate Center Team

The Catholic Apostolate Center is proud to be partnering with the Catholic Campus Ministry Association during their 2013 annual national convention to be held January 8-11.  Director of the Catholic Apostolate Center, Fr. Frank Donio, S.A.C. will be presenting at the convention with CAC advisor Barbara McCrabb on "Collaboration and the New Evangelization".

As contemporary discourse becomes more and more polarized, we experience negative effects within our Church. The collaborative response requires more than simply "playing nice together." Ministerial action, in light of the Trinity's invitation to communion, must foster a deeper knowing which serves the mission and ministry of Jesus Christ. More than technique, collaboration becomes a spirituality of ministry for our era. This session looks at collaboration as a vision for ministry and an asset for the New Evangelization.

Fr. Frank has extensive experience in various types of ministry. A priest of the Society of the Catholic Apostolate ("Pallottines"), Fr. Frank approaches ministry with a spirit of fruitful collaboration exemplified in the founder of the Pallottines, St. Vincent Pallotti.
Have you, a family member, or a friend made a New Year's Resolution to commit more fully to your faith? Looking for a way to start? Take a look at the Diocese of Austin's recent resource in honor of this Year of Faith: 10 Ways Catholics Can Live the Year of Faith. Similar to those presented in our recent webinar presentations, these ten suggestions from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops offer practical and important ways to rekindle our faith and re-convert ourselves! Be sure to check it out and share this resource with friends!
Each Christmas and Easter, the Holy Father offers a message and blessing to the people of the City of Rome and to the World, hence its title "Urbi et Orbi" - "To the City and To the World". Just a few weeks ago on Christmas Day Pope Benedict XVI delivered his message based upon Psalm 85:12, "Truth has sprung out of the earth". Here the Holy Father speaks about the Truth that has come among us this Christmas season in the birth of our savior, Jesus Christ and, as a result, that "Truth has sprung up, bringing kindness, justice and peace."  Click here to read the full text.
 Wisdom from the Saints

"As you kneel at the feet of the child Jesus on the day of his Epiphany and see him a king bearing none of the outward signs of royalty, you can tell him: 'Lord, take away my pride; crush my self-love, my desire to affirm myself and impose myself on others. Make the foundation of my personality my identification with you.'"

-St. Josemaria Escriva
