Greetings!

Each baptized person is called to ongoing formation and deeper conversion to Christ.  We are all challenged to commit more deeply to the life of faith and be willing to share that faith with others.  The work of the New Evangelization is not simply done by individuals.  All are called to ongoing formation and to co-responsibility in communion with one another.  As Pope Benedict XVI has said,

"[W]e must renew our efforts for a formation which is more attentive and focused on the vision of the Church, of which I spoke and this should be both on the part of priests as well as of religious and lay people to understand ever better what this Church is, this People of God in the Body of Christ. At the same time, it is necessary to improve pastoral structures in such a way that the co-responsibility of all the members of the People of God in their entirety is gradually promoted, with respect for vocations and for the respective roles of the consecrated and of lay people" (Church Membership and Pastoral Co-responsibility, Opening Address of the Pastoral Convention of the Diocese of Rome, May 26, 2009).

Co-responsibility in the way that Pope Benedict describes develops when all those engaged in the mission of the baptized strive to collaborate with one another after the model of the Apostles and disciples in the Cenacle or Upper Room.  In Pallottine Spirituality, this form of collaboration is called "collaboration from the beginning."  All those involved in the task proceed in a communal fashion right from the start: together they - analyze a situation, recognize the need to act, make decisions, and realize those decisions.

One of the ways in which the Catholic Apostolate Center is engaged in "collaboration from the beginning" is with our partners. This issue of our newsletter will tell you more about two of these partnerships, Catholic Volunteer Network and the Mid-Atlantic Congress for Pastoral Leadership.  Our goal is that all the baptized will grow in greater co-responsibility becoming more effective evangelizers through their actions in faith and charity.

May the charity of Christ urge you on!

CVN
Since its inception in 1963 as a regional diocesan organization to its current standing as one of the nation's leading volunteer agencies, Catholic Volunteer Network has provided thousands of people with volunteer training and resources, as well as networking opportunities. The Catholic Apostolate Center is proud to partner with Catholic Volunteer Network and assist in its efforts to provide and advocate for faith-based volunteerism. Together, our prayer is that our ministries, rooted in faith, may form apostles willing and ready to share Christ's love with those who most need it here in the United States and around the world.

MAC The Mid-Atlantic Congress for Pastoral Leadership is an annual conference held in Baltimore, Maryland that seeks to bring best practices of Catholic pastoral ministry, catechesis, prayer and worship to pastoral leaders at the diocesan, parish and school levels. In the upcoming Congress to be held March 7-9, 2013, the Catholic Apostolate Center will be sponsoring and facilitating resource sessions to deepen collaboration among pastoral ministers.  We also will provide opportunities to learn more about New Evangelization as well as highlighting the unique role in ministry and leadership by emerging adults. Through this partnership we hope to not only help our pastoral leaders grow in their own unique skills but assist in raising the standard of excellence in all our ministries.

Newest Resources from the

In just the last month the staff here at the Catholic Apostolate Center has continued to roll out new, original resources we would like to share with you. Please check them out, provide us with any feedback and share them with friends!

Blog On October 11, 2012 - coinciding with the start of the Year of Faith - we relaunched our Catholic Apostolate Center blog! Now updated bi-weekly with new posts, the blog gives voice to young adult Catholics who strive to live out their faith and continually come to a greater embrace of the New Evangelization. Here they share their own experiences and reflections as they come to a more "authentic and renewed conversion to the Lord" (Porta Fidei 6).

Launched just prior to the World Bishops Synod on the New Evangelization, the specially designed portal has been kept up to date with the latest documents and addresses to come from this meeting. With the Synod's conclusion having just come a couple weeks ago, this is an ideal time to read, listen and reflect upon the words from the Synod fathers.
 Wisdom from the Saints

"If we are truly animated by the spirit of love, we shall always treat all with love, look on all with love, think of all with love and speak of all with love."

- St. Vincent Pallotti
