The Christ Church Valdosta Lunch Bunch feeds 120 or more hungry children every first and third Saturday of the month. Workers from the church as well as other members of the community who volunteer gather at 11 a.m. at Christ Church to make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. They pack them in plastic bags, then brown paper bags with logo stickers together with chips, fruit, juice and other healthy goodies purchased from the Second Harvest Food Bank.
Please join us, on any 1st or 3rd Saturday.

Assistant to the Rector: Philip Ryan
|
Our newly hired Assistant to the Rector, Philip Ryan, along with his wife Amanda and their daughter Greta, will be moving into Louttit Hall on August 26. He will officially begin on September 1st. Philip has extensive ministry experience and is a gifted preacher and teacher. He completed his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biblical Studies and Languages at Evangel University, his Master of Arts degree in Exegetical Theology at Covenant Theological Seminary, and his Master of Theology degree at Candler School of Theology, Emory University. Christ Church has a rich tradition of raising up ordained clergy, and along these lines Philip will be entering the ordination process in The Episcopal Church. In the meantime he will be licensed by Bishop Benhase as a Licensed Lay Preacher and a Licensed Lay Eucharistic Minister. Here at Christ Church he will be working on developing our college and youth ministries, further developing our local outreach efforts, and doing some preaching and teaching as well. I ask you to join me in warmly welcoming Philip, Amanda, and Greta into our Christ Church family!
The Ryan's will be here the afternoon of Friday, August 26 around 2 PM. We need volunteers to help them unload their U-Haul.
There will be a H.E.P Party at the Rectory on September 1st beginning at 6:00 p.m. to welcome the Ryan family to Christ Church.

How to join the Men in Blue
|
It's easy and lots of fun
|
For many years a group of men and some women have grilled dinners for the parishioners of Christ Church. They named themselves the Men in Blue for obvious reasons: they all wore blue t-shirts. How do you join? You have only to ask to be part of the group, then show up when it's time to cook. Call Dave Clark at 559-6159 or John Hiers at 244-5942 to join the team. Sign up today.

Book Signing for Fr. Ingeman |
Save the date: 5:30 p.m., Thursday, September 8, 2016.
Valdosta's new bookstore, Book & Table at 120 North Patterson Street, will host a book signing on September 8 for Fr. Peter Ingeman's book, In His Holy Name: A Collection of Sermons. The bookstore will have hardbound and paperbound books available for purchase, and Fr. Ingeman will autograph books during the event. The bookstore owners, Mike and Lai Orenduff, plan to donate the profits from this event to Christ Church's altar guild.
The website for the book has information on how to download a copy of the book without charge, and how to order paperbound and hardbound printed editions at a minimal cost, including any discounts that may be available from the publisher from time to time. This website also includes links to the PDF file of the entire book, the 152 individual sermons in PDF format, six audio recordings of Fr. Peter preaching at Christ Church in 2006, and a photographic collage of Fr. Peter and Happy.

2017 Dominican Trip Dates
|
Planning for the Dominican Mission trip begins early - almost a year early. The dates for next year's trip are June 12 -19, 2017. We selected the date early so that we could get on the Campamento schedule at a time after our schools ended and before their summer camp sessions begin and so that those thinking of going with us could block out the dates on next year's schedule. If you are interested in applying for the "Go Team," contact Julia or Julius Ariail at [email protected]. Save the date.
Work continues on the final report and photo album from our 2016 trip. As a preview, here's a small set of photos from Sunday, May 15, when our team attended the church service in El Pedregal:
