 20's & 30's Group are invited for food, fun and fellowship at the Rectory on Friday, June 10th beginning at 6:00 p.m. The main course and drinks will be provided; each participant is asked to bring a side dish, salad or dessert.
The Gabard Building will be open and staffed for nursery and/or childcare. Dinner will be provided for them as well. |

Soup Kitchen Meal Prep: On Thursday, July 7, we will provide 200 bag lunches for those who normally have lunch at the Soup Kitchen. Each year the Soup Kitchen closes during the week of July 4 to give the workers a much needed break. The day assigned to Christ Church is Thursday (7/7). Last year we made turkey sandwiches served with bananas, potato chips, cookies and bottles of water.
We need monetary contributions to purchase food and supplies, and a few volunteer to cook turkey breasts, make sandwiches and pack the lunches. If you can help, please contact Sandra Fletcher. Many of those who eat at the Soup Kitchen get very little else to eat each day. Please help us provide lunches for them on this one day. Thank you so much for your generous assistance.

| Completing our seesaw and basketball projects |
Our missioners were not able to complete two of their projects while the team was at the Campamento in the Dominican Republic from May 9-16, 2016: repairing two seesaw balancing boards and installing new basketball rims on the camp's playground. Both of these were "add-on" projects, inspired by observing conditions on the ground after the team arrived and seeing a need. The seesaws needed special metal brackets to secure them on a support beam, and the two basketball rims in place were both broken and could not support nets. After trying several times to locate and purchase the needed replacement parts in the nearby city of Jarabacoa, the team returned home with those jobs incomplete.
However, with the help of the Youth Team from the Diocese of Nebraska, there is a good chance that they will be completed next week. Once our team returned and had access to resources such as Lowe's and Amazon, the necessary parts were located and shipped to the leader of the Nebraska team for transport to the Campamento in El Pedregal on June 15. Jim Drazdowski, formerly a member of Christ Church Valdosta and an experienced DR missioner, is a member of that Nebraska team, and will use our replacement parts to complete both projects.
