Pledges for 2016
Still being accepted
Thanks to those of you who have already submitted your pledge! Your pledge cards play a vital role in the life and ministry of Christ Church.  Pledge cards are still being accepted.  If you need another pledge card there are some in the narthex and in the parish hall. Thanks so much!
Vestry 2018 Nominees
Elections to be held January 3, 2016
We have nine candidates for the position of Vestry 2018.  Each candidate has been asked to answer a few questions and submitted a photo.  This information once received will be posted on the bulletin board in the parish hall.

Nominees are: Jeana Beeland, John Bennett, Stephanie Blevins, Tammy Borders, Marvin Dickey, Sandra Fletcher, Duke Guthrie, Millie Johnson, and Molly Stevenson.

Vestry Elections will be held on January 3, 2016 during the Annual Parish meeting to be held immediately following the 10:00 a.m. worship service.
Lunch Bunch
Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 11:00 a.m.
Lunch Bunch is will be on Saturday, December 5th.

The Christ Church Valdosta Lunch Bunch feeds 120 or more hungry children every first and third Saturday of the month. Workers from the church as well as other members of the community who volunteer gather at 11 a.m. at Christ Church to make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. They pack them in plastic bags, then brown paper bags with logo stickers together with chips, fruit, juice and other healthy goodies purchased from the Second Harvest Food Bank.

On Saturday, December 19, the Lunch Bunch group would like to give each child who comes to the delivery spots at Ora Lee West and Hudson Dockett housing projects a small gift for Christmas. We are looking for 120 small wrapped gifts under $5, the gift can be for a boy or a girl under the age of 14. We will have a collection box in the narthex, or you can drop them by the church office.  Please have them to the church no later than Thursday, December 17, 2015.  Thank you for your help.

Please join us, on any 1st or 3rd Saturday.

Advent Wreath-Making Event
Sunday, November 29, 2015 - 11:15 a.m.
Our annual Advent Wreath-Making event is returning to the Sunday School hour (11:15 - 12:00) on the first Sunday of Advent (This will take the place of Sunday School on November 29, 2015). Please come join us as we begin the season of preparation for the birth of our Lord in this traditional, meaningful way. We will have a craft available for younger children, as well.
We also need assistance gathering the fresh greenery used in making the wreaths. The traditional, and symbolic greenery used include evergreens (pine, cedar and fir), bay laurel, rosemary, ivy and holly. If you are able to provide any of these, please contact Stefani Carroll.
Foyer Groups (Supper Club)
Foyer Groups are being formed and will be starting up soon. For newcomers, or anyone not familiar with Foyer Groups - it is like a supper club.  The groups will meet every other month (six times a year) in a different member's home, or a restaurant, or even the parish hall.  This is a great way for newcomers to meet fellow parishioners.  It is open to singles and couples, young and old (adults only).  For more information or to sign up, contact Sallie Honeycutt or (417) 294-7796.
Father Dave's Book
Sunday, December 6th and December 13th
Father Dave's book The Grace of God Has Appeared will be available for purchase during coffee hour after church on Dec. 6 and Dec. 13 -- after that book purchases can be made in the church office, with all proceeds going toward the 2016 youth mission trip. The cost of each book is $10.
Christmas Open Houses
Friday, December 11, 2015 beginning at 6:00 p.m.
Christmas Open House date has changed. The Rectory and Louttit Hall will have Christmas Open Houses on Friday Dec 11, 2015 (not Sat Dec 12). We are sorry for any inconvenience this might cause.  Please plan to join us on Friday, December 11, 2015 beginning at 6:00 p.m.
Advent Opportunity
Begins Sunday, November 29, 2015 at 11:15
Christ Church will be joining other churches in the Diocese of Georgia this Advent in reading former Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams' book Being Christian.  Christ Church will offer a Sunday school class in the Office Building the four Sundays of Advent to discuss the following topics from this book:
November 29 Baptism - Dr. Jane Kinney
December 6 Bible - The Rev. Peter Ingeman (ret.)
December 13 Eucharist - Dr. Sheri Gravett
December 20 Prayer - The Rev. Dcn. Patricia Marks (ret.)
Williams writes "the book looks at what these activities tell us about the essence of Christian life and what kind of people we might hope to become in the community where these things are done."
You do not have to read the book to attend the sessions.  The book can be purchased from Amazon for $8.70.  For additional information, contact Maggie Roberts.
