Lunch Bunch is will be on Saturday, November 21st.
The Christ Church Valdosta Lunch Bunch feeds 120 or more hungry children every first and third Saturday of the month. Workers from the church as well as other members of the community who volunteer gather at 11 a.m. at Christ Church to make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. They pack them in plastic bags, then brown paper bags with logo stickers together with chips, fruit, juice and other healthy goodies purchased from the Second Harvest Food Bank.
On Saturday, December 19, the Lunch Bunch group would like to give each child who comes to the delivery spots at Ora Lee West and Hudson Dockett housing projects a small gift for Christmas. We are looking for 120 small wrapped gifts under $5, the gift can be for a boy or a girl under the age of 14. We will have a collection box in the narthex, or you can drop them by the church office. Please have them to the church no later than Thursday, December 17, 2015. Thank you for your help. Please join us, on any 1st or 3rd Saturday.

Foyer Groups (Supper Club)
|
Foyer Groups are being formed and will be starting up soon. For newcomers, or anyone not familiar with Foyer Groups - it is like a supper club. The groups will meet every other month (six times a year) in a different member's home, or a restaurant, or even the parish hall. This is a great way for newcomers to meet fellow parishioners. It is open to singles and couples, young and old (adults only). For more information or to sign up, contact Sallie Honeycutt or (417) 294-7796.

Christ Church will be joining other churches in the Diocese of Georgia this Advent in reading former Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams' book Being Christian. Christ Church will offer a Sunday school class in the Office Building the four Sundays of Advent to discuss the following topics from this book:
November 29 Baptism - Dr. Jane Kinney
December 6 Bible - The Rev. Peter Ingeman (ret.)
December 13 Eucharist - Dr. Sheri Gravett
December 20 Prayer - The Rev. Dcn. Patricia Marks (ret.)
Williams writes "the book looks at what these activities tell us about the essence of Christian life and what kind of people we might hope to become in the community where these things are done."
You do not have to read the book to attend the sessions. The book can be purchased from Amazon for $8.70. For additional information, contact Maggie Roberts.

DR Mission Trip: May 9-16 2016
|
Trip planning webpage is up |
The planning webpage for our 2016 mission trip is now online at this link:
This page currently contains some initial information about our 2016 trip, including our designated flights. If you are interested in joining this team, please contact Julia or Julius Ariail before booking these flights. The procedures for checked baggage on JetBlue flights have changed greatly since our 2015 trip, and Julia and Julius will have some detailed information about that. This information will eventually be added to the trip planning page -- just as soon as they figure it out themselves....
Our 2016 mission trip to the Dominican Republic will take place on May 9-16, 2016. For more information contact Julia Ariail or Julius Ariail. For information about our 2015 trip, click here.
And watch this space next week for big news about the arrival from the Dominican Republic of the thank-you notes from the 70 students attending the K-8 Episcopal school in El Pedregal on scholarships that the "home team" donated. They are here, they are colorful, and the students are so grateful for our help. You'll see for yourself next week.
