Pledges for 2016
Sunday, November 1, 2015
As you know, we are in the midst of stewardship season here at Christ Church.  Thanks to those of you who have already submitted your pledge!  Pledge cards have been mailed out and are also available in the tower, parish hall and office here at Christ Church.  Your pledges play a vital role in the life and ministry of Christ Church.  If you are pledging we would be most appreciative if you could turn in your pledge cards by November 1 for budget planning purposes-thanks so much!

Annual Parish Picnic will be held this year at Buckhead in Quitman. (Take Hwy 84 to Quitman, turn left at Cass Burch Dodge (Highland Drive) go 4 miles then turn left on Dewey Rd (dirt) go about 1.4 miles Buckhead gate is on the left). The Men in Blue will be cooking the main course - please bring a side or desert to share.
Church Parking Lots
Christ Church needs the spaces in our parking lots for church business and services, and so we have begun towing vehicles that are parked in our parking lots for non-Christ Church related business.  If you are parking in the church lot for a day outing and do not have an Episcopal shield sticker or parking permit, please stop by the church office to get one-obviously we do not want to tow vehicles that belong to Christ Church members.  Because we want all our members and guests to be able to find a parking spot when they come to the church, we have to have a way to monitor our lots.  We thank you for your understanding and help.
Canterbury Club Meals
Canterbury Club (Episcopal College Ministries) has started up for the fall semester.  We would like to provide dinner for students.  If you are interested in helping provide a meal one night please sign-up in the parish hall, or contact Father Dan
Lunch Bunch
Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 11:00 a.m.
Lunch Bunch is will be on Saturday, November 7th.

This is a lunch bunch ministry to children on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays who live in the HUD projects (60-90) or Ora Lee West (30). We make bag lunches for an hour then deliver.
We always need help.

It is a one hour commitment either making sandwiches, stuffing bags, delivering, or all three.

If you cannot come, you can always donate to the ministry (pays for food we can't get at food bank) or bring fruit cups (we always need them).

This ministry is a wonderful way to show Christ's love to children. As a result of our partnership with the Food Bank and contributions of food/money from our congregation, the church budget is not burdened by this ministry.

Please join us, on any 1st or 3rd Saturday.

Foyer Groups (Supper Club)
Foyer Groups are being formed and will be starting up soon. For newcomers, or anyone not familiar with Foyer Groups - it is like a supper club.  The groups will meet every other month (six times a year) in a different member's home, or a restaurant, or even the parish hall.  This is a great way for newcomers to meet fellow parishioners.  It is open to singles and couples, young and old (adults only).  For more information or to sign up, contact Sallie Honeycutt or (417) 294-7796.
Advent Opportunity
Begins Sunday, November 29, 2015 at 11:15
Christ Church will be joining other churches in the Diocese of Georgia this Advent in reading former Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams' book Being Christian during.  Christ Church will offer a Sunday school class the four Sundays of Advent to discuss the following topics from this book:
     November 29 Baptism
     December 6 Bible
     December 13 Eucharist
     December 20 Prayer
Williams writes "the book looks at what these activities tell us about the essence of Christian life and what kind of people we might hope to become in the community where these things are done."
You do not have to read the book to attend the sessions.  The book can be purchased from Amazon for $8.70.  For additional information, contact Maggie Roberts.
