As you know, we are in the midst of stewardship season here at Christ Church.  Thanks to those of you who have already submitted your pledge!  Pledge cards will be mailed out and are also available in the tower, parish hall and office here at Christ Church.  Your pledges play a vital role in the life and ministry of Christ Church.  If you are pledging we would be most appreciative if you could turn in your pledge cards by November 1 for budget planning purposes-thanks so much!

Lunch Bunch
Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 11:00 a.m.
Lunch Bunch is will be next Saturday, October 17th.

This is a lunch bunch ministry to children on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays who live in the HUD projects (60-90) or Ora Lee West (30). We make bag lunches for an hour then deliver.
We always need help.

It is a one hour commitment either making sandwiches, stuffing bags, delivering, or all three.

If you cannot come, you can always donate to the ministry (pays for food we can't get at food bank) or bring fruit cups (we always need them).

This ministry is a wonderful way to show Christ's love to children. As a result of our partnership with the Food Bank and contributions of food/money from our congregation, the church budget is not burdened by this ministry.

Please join us, this Saturday or any 1st or 3rd Saturday.

Foyer Groups (Supper Club)
Foyer Groups are being formed and will be starting up soon. For newcomers, or anyone not familiar with Foyer Groups - it is like a supper club.  The groups will meet every other month (six times a year) in a different member's home, or a restaurant, or even the parish hall.  This is a great way for newcomers to meet fellow parishioners.  It is open to singles and couples, young and old (adults only).  For more information or to sign up, contact Sallie Honeycutt or (417) 294-7796.
Advent Opportunity
Begins Sunday, November 29, 2015 at 11:15
Christ Church will be joining other churches in the Diocese of Georgia this Advent in reading former Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams' book Being Christian during.  Christ Church will offer a Sunday school class the four Sundays of Advent to discuss the following topics from this book:
     November 29 Baptism
     December 6 Bible
     December 13 Eucharist
     December 20 Prayer
Williams writes "the book looks at what these activities tell us about the essence of Christian life and what kind of people we might hope to become in the community where these things are done."
You do not have to read the book to attend the sessions.  The book can be purchased from Amazon for $8.70.  For additional information, contact Maggie Roberts.
DR 2016 Mission Trip
Please respond by October 19 - Four potential dates
It's time to start planning our 2016 mission trip to the Dominican Republic. We are going to return to the village of El Pedregal, where the teams sponsored by Christ Church have been working since 2001.

Given that the month of June has become very popular for DR mission teams, we would like to look at four potential dates in the less-crowded months of April and May 2016 for our trip. These dates, all Monday to Monday, are below:

April 11-18
May 2-9
May 9-16
May 23-30

All four dates have been reserved for us at the Campamento in El Pedregal, but we need to decide on one date by October 19 so that the other three dates can be released for other teams.

If you are interested in going on the 2016 mission trip (no commitment yet, just an interest), please email Julia Ariail before October 19 and let her know which of these four dates you prefer AND which dates you could not make because of other schedule commitments.
