Soup Kitchen Help

Tuesday's lunch for the Community Soup Kitchen was a great success!  We served 192 lunches and cold water in the July heat.  Those we served, from the very old to the very young, were grateful and polite.  It was a rewarding task.  Many thanks to all who helped with donations and hard work.  Well done!

Stitchers of Love
Sunday, July 12, 2015 from 4 - 6 p.m.

Stitchers of Love will meet on Sunday afternoon, July 12th, from 4-6:00 p.m. in the parish hall.

I know it is July.  It is hot.  It is vacation time.

But we have lots of request and ideas for projects.  Before you know it, it will be time for warm woollies.

We have several new project opportunities.

We really need to be working on baby blankets and hats for the hospital.  If you are concerned about your skills...believe me, we have a perfect baby blanket pattern for you.  In fact, we taught it during our recent mission trip to the Dominican.

Then, we always need prayer shawls.

And.....More?

So please stop by for a bit ....  or a couple of hours.

Anyone who would like to learn to knit or crochet is also welcome and encouraged to come.
DR Mission Trip Photos Posted
And the sauna is up for auction again!
Speaking of the DR (see Stitchers of Love article above), photos from our recent mission trip to the Dominican Republic are being posted in two albums (same content): PicasaFacebook. Images through Sunday, June 21, are up now, and those for Monday, June 22, will follow soon. In next Friday's bulletin, look for a Vineyard article that will summarize our trip.

And the sauna that was donated to sell to support our mission team is back on eBay auction! The minimum bid has been lowered to $500, and the auction runs through 5:51 a.m. on Monday, July 13. If you're interested in checking it out, here's the link to the eBay auction listing: Sauna on eBay
Youth Missioners Working Hard
In Chattanooga, Tennessee
Kate Hanson, a member of the youth mission team at work this week in Chattanooga, Tennessee, is sending back photos every day that are being posted in a church Facebook album and also in one of our Picasa albums. A Vineyard article that contains many of her photographs is under construction here.

They are working in conjunction with several other churches this week at a Son Servants youth mission trip. Our group is replacing a roof and trimming shrubbery for an elderly widow, and will work on this same project all week. They are staying in rustic cabins in Harrison Bay State Park. In the evenings they have worship, games, teaching, and a little free time. On July 7, Fr. Dave sent back this summary of their activities: "Overall lots of work and lots of fun."

Notebook Paper Needed
Month of July

We are once again working with South Georgia Partnership to end Homelessness to provide school supplies.  Christ Church has been asked to provide notebook paper (Wide Rule and College Rule) for the backpacks.  We are only in need of notebook paper.  Other organizations are collecting certain items as well.

T
here will be a basket in the Nave of the Sanctuary for the month of July.

If you would rather make a monetary donation to help this cause, please make the checks out to Christ Church and denote that it is for Notebook Paper.

EYC Haven Project

Our Junior and Middle School EYC groups are collecting hotel/sample sized toiletries which they will bag and send to The Haven for their clients. There will be a collection bin in the Parish Hall. Thank you so much for helping our youth do God's work in our community!
