Thank You!
A Note from the Rev. Joye Cantrell

Hello from Washington, DC

          I miss all of you!

What was I thinking when I thought that retirement was about rest and relaxation? I have driven with a u-haul from Valdosta, to Columbia, Columbia to Charleston and back and then to DC. Then I flew to Miami to help Paul and Tati as Tati's family said good-byes and buried her grandmother. Now back in DC and enjoying being with Margaret and Dave.

The time I spent in South Georgia at Christ Church will always be special to me. Your hospitality to me, the good times we shared and the holy and sacred worship that made up our weeks together. I may be gone, but YOU are not forgotten.

Thank you for the wonderful gift of the picture of Christ Church. It will make me smile every-time I look at it in the years to come. Also, many thanks for the traveling money. A report will come from the road soon when Connie Casita takes her maiden run.

God bless you my sisters and brothers in Christ.

Pentecost
June 8, 2014
Pentecost Sunday is June 8, 2014.

We will have a special treat with members of the congregation reading part of the Gospel in different languages.  Please come and listen.

Remember to wear RED.
Lunch Bunch
June 7, 2014

Lunch Bunch will meet this Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the Parish Hall.

With school out and summer upon us, we need as many volunteers as possible. A number of our regular volunteers will be out of town.  Please come by the Parish Hall this Saturday and lend a hand.
Notebook Paper
June and July

The Ministries Committee is working together with the South Georgia Partnership to End Homelessness to provide school supplies.  Christ Church has been asked to provide notebook paper (Wide Rule and College Rule) for the 1,000 backpacks.  We are only in need of notebook paper.  Other organizations are collecting certain items as well.  There will be a box in the nave of the Sanctuary for the months of June and July.  If you would prefer to make a monetary donation to help this cause, please make checks to Christ Church and denote that it is for notebook paper.

Social Media Volunteers Needed

A Message from Julius Ariail

With the consent of the church's Communication Committee and its chair, Michael Black, I plan to step back from my volunteer work as primary content creator on both the church's Facebook and Twitter accounts as of June 1, 2014, so I can concentrate on the upcoming DR mission trip and the ongoing website and social media platforms of the Dominican Development Group.

Michael and the committee will be looking for other volunteers to work in these social media areas. I will also be cutting back on my work in taking and posting event photographs at Christ Church, knowing that we have several other good photographers in our congregation. I hope to continue working with the church's website, at least until such time as Michael and the committee recruit one or more website volunteers. Anyone interested in working with the Communications Committee on any or all of these projects should contact Michael Black.
Wednesday Evening Suppers
Temporarily Suspended
Wednesday Evening Suppers are suspended temporarily for parish hall kitchen repair work.

An Evening Prayer service will be held at 6:00 p.m. each Wednesday through the summer, but will not be followed by a meal.  Please take note of these changes.

Nursery Helpers Needed
Sundays this summer
We are in need of nursery workers to help care for our littlest ones each Sunday during worship.  If you can just give one Sunday this summer to help us staff the nursery, please contact Jeani Synyard.
Preschool Registration
Open enrollment
The Christ Church Preschool is now accepting applications for open enrollment for the 2014-2015 school year.  If you are interested, or know someone who has a young child pre-school age, applications can be found online.  We offer 2, 3, and 4 year old classes. Classes are filled on a first come, first served basis.

Christ Church also offers a Parents Morning Out (PMO) program for children 6 months to 4 years of age.  Enrollment for the summer program has started.  Please contact the church office for more information.
Vacation Bible School (VBS)
June 9 - June 12, 2014 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon
This year's Vacation Bible School has been scheduled for Monday, June 9th through Thursday, June 12th from 9:00 a.m to 12:00 noon. The theme for VBS is Workshops of Wonders. Our VBS webpage is now open to register children or to volunteers

As always, we need volunteers (Adults or teens) to shepherd children, teach VBS music and dance, run games, and make and serve snacks. It's such a joy to be a part of showing kids the love of Christ!

Question? Please contact Stefani Carroll or 560-1817.
