Thank You!

Dear Christ Church Family,

Thank you for the wonderful send off you gave to us as we prepare to work in a different corner of God's amazing vineyard. Your generosity was overwhelming. When reflecting on our time at Christ Church, we will remember you with loving and grateful hearts.

We have spent the last eighteen years working together to accomplish the mission God has given us to do in our own midst, in our diocese, and the world.  Christ Church is an amazing congregation and both Jim and I are proud to have been a part of this community.   Thank you for allowing us into the intimate parts of your lives.  Thank you for so many magnificent memories, they will remain with us always.

This is a time of new beginnings for all of us.  I am proud of the hard work you have done over the last eighteen months.  Your future looks bright, and though not a part of your future, I can't wait to see how you will meet the challenges of worship, mission, and formation in the years to come.

My prayer for you is that you will continue to live into your Baptismal Covenant, remain hungry for the knowledge of his word, and remain responsive to the needs of those who are in need for food, shelter, education, and spiritual formation.

Blessings,

Tar+

DR Night Successful!
Eleven People Donated Money for Scholarships
The Dominican Night Dinner, Auction and Tribute to the Drazdowskis was a great success! Over 100 people bought tickets to enjoy the delicious Dominican food catered by Covingtons. Four letters were read from the Right Reverend Julio Holgun, Bishop of the Dominican Republic; the Rev. Canon Frank Logue of the Diocese of Georgia; Bill Kunkle, Executive Director of the Dominican Development Group; and Karen Carroll, Mission Team Coordinator in Santo Domingo. These letters praised the work of the Rev. Tar and Jim Drazdowski in the DR.

The auction raised $5,689, and 11 people donated $3,960 for scholarships for a total of $9,649! Thanks to Duke Guthrie, the auctioneer; Karen Gunter for the Dominican cake; Julius Ariail, photographer; Jeani Synyard, Gail Hobgood, Helen Tucker, Marilyn Miller, Julia Ariail and Jeana Beeland, the event organizers. Thank you also to Dennis Marks, the cashier, and Sandy Sandbach, the bartender. A special thank you goes to Clinton and Jeana Beeland for donating our use of the beautiful Cotton Corner event space.

The photographs from the slideshow shown at the event are available at the link below. These images show highlights from the Christ Church mission trips from 2006 to 2013. Photographs from the event will be posted in a few days.

Youth Presence Ministries
May 16-17 - St. Anne's, Tifton
The Diocese of Georgia is teaming with Youth Presence Ministries. The purpose and focus of this special partnership is to help multiple congregations create or further develop a strong youth presence in their context of ministry. It is the belief of Youth Presence Ministry that Youth Ministry is different in every place and possible in every place. The programs offered will focuses on the local congregation and their unique setting, circumstances, challenges and hopes for the future. This model also fosters church growth by the presence and interface of young people in their midst.

All Congregations wishing to participate must send at least six participants to the workshops. The workshops will be held Friday from 6:00-9:00 and Saturday from 8:30-3:30. These participants should be people who are passionate about creating a youth presence in your church community. They don't have to be the adult youth leaders. At the vision workshop, they will be given skill to help find these people. Participants must commit to coming to the training sessions and, most importantly, working to implement the vision plan in the congregation.

Cost: The cost is $30 per person. This will cover the cost of food, which includes dinner on Friday night, a light breakfast on Saturday, and lunch on Saturday.

If you are interested in forming a group, please contact the church office.  For further information check out the website.
