Jim, Julia and Julius to the DR
Leaving February 12, 2014
Jim Drazdowski, along with Julia and Julius Ariail, will leave for the Dominican Republic on February 12th to join the Rev. Tar Drazdowski at the Dominican seminary in Santo Domingo. They will attend the Dominican diocesan convention on February 14-16 and then the semi-annual board meeting of the Dominican Development Group (DDG) on February 17. Following the DDG meeting, Julia and Julius (and maybe Tar+ and Jim) will travel to El Pedregal for a few days to work on the details of our June 2014 mission trip projects.

Julia and Julius also hope to visit the city of San Pedro de Macors to photograph the work of a mission team from St. Peter's (Savannah) in a medical clinic there. Tar+, Julia and Julius will return home on February 25th, while Jim will remain at the seminary to begin his Spanish language studies and will return home on March 22nd. Your prayers are requested for safe travel and for a productive two weeks with their colleagues in the Diocese of the Dominican Republic.

Search Committee Update
From 11 candidates to 4 finalists

The Search Committee has narrowed our initial list of 11 names to 4 candidates for rector.  We have divided into groups of three to visit these candidates in their parishes.  As instructed in the transition manual, we will attend a service in which each one is preaching, attend any activity following the service in which an ordinary visitor would participate, observe the general atmosphere of the church and the service, and talk to people without indicating the purpose of our visit.  In addition we will share a meal with candidates and their spouses to get acquainted on a personal level.  The Vestry has given us a travel budget and we are working to be good stewards of these funds.  Please pray for travel safety and discernment for the traveling teams.  Our last visit is scheduled for the end of February.  At that point we will have to decide who to bring to Valdosta for interviews.  We are fortunate in that this is going to be a difficult decision because of the high quality of our candidates.  We appreciate your patience and support throughout this search. -- Phyllis Holland, Chair

Knitters and Crocheters
Sunday, February 9, 2014 from 3 - 6 p.m.

Two new projects that require straight knitting and purling or single crochet only.  Come find out.  Drop in anytime this Sunday, February 9, 2014 from 3-6 p.m.

These are really good and easy projects-both of them stash-busters. One of them came from a request I had from Terri Jenkins, who is the director of the local Red Cross and who would love to have hand-made caps for her volunteers. I've been loom-knitting- I'll bring my loom and show anyone who wants to see how to do it. It's amazingly fast! The second one is about Twiddlemuffs . . . Curious? See you on Sunday!
