The Vestry met on January 20, 2014, and elected Jeff Hanson as Senior Warden and Frances Guice as Junior Warden. Phyllis Hiers was appointed Secretary. A summary of the actions taken at this meeting is available as a Vineyard article online here:

The Search Committee has narrowed our initial list of 11 names to 4 candidates for rector. We have divided into groups of three to visit these candidates in their parishes. As instructed in the transition manual, we will attend a service in which each one is preaching, attend any activity following the service in which an ordinary visitor would participate, observe the general atmosphere of the church and the service, and talk to people without indicating the purpose of our visit. In addition we will share a meal with candidates and their spouses to get acquainted on a personal level. The Vestry has given us a travel budget and we are working to be good stewards of these funds. Please pray for travel safety and discernment for the traveling teams. Our last visit is scheduled for the end of February. At that point we will have to decide who to bring to Valdosta for interviews. We are fortunate in that this is going to be a difficult decision because of the high quality of our candidates. Lunch Bunch group will meet Saturday, February 1st at 10:00 a.m. in the Parish Hall. We will be preparing lunches for 125. If you are interested in helping with this ministry, please come to the Parish Hall on Saturday the 1st.
If you cannot make it on the 1st, here are some future dates: February 15, March 1, and March 15. Please mark your calendar and plan to help out one Saturday.

The Rev. William Cone Harris, formerly an Interim Rector of Christ Episcopal Church, died on January 21, 2014, in Lexington,
VA. Prior to serving at Christ Church, Fr. Harris was the Rector of Holy Comforter Episcopal Church in Tallahassee, FL, and then served other churches in Florida as an interim. He served at Christ Church from approximately 1998 until 2000, and was succeeded by the Rev. Peter Ingeman. Details of his memorial service are incomplete at this time. Sympathy cards to his family should be sent to the Christ Church office, where they will be collected and forwarded to the family.

On Wednesday, January 29, 2014 after the 6:00 worship service we will be having a chili feast. If you have a favorite chili recipe, please plan on fixing it and bring it to the Parish Hall (best if in a crock pot to stay warm) before the Wednesday evening service.
After worship we will all gather to sample all the different types of Chili. There is a sign-up sheet is in the Parish Hall. For further information please contact Robin Coleman. |
It's time for softball sign-ups. If you're interested in playing on the church softball league this season for Christ Church, please contact Paul Stevenson as soon as possible.

Super Bowl 2014 is right around the corner and once again, St. Francis Ministry for Animals will be grilling pork ribs, pork tenderloins and chicken. February 2nd is approaching soon so go ahead and place your order(s) on the sign-up sheets in the Parish Hall or email us. For more information or to call-in your order, call Karen Gunter at 794-8146 or 229-560-4472! Prices: Ribs - $25 per slab, Tenderloins - $25 for two loins, Chicken - $5.00 for half a chicken.
