Dominican Republic
September 28 - October 8, 2013

Christ Church member Julius Ariail will be in several locations within the Dominican Republic from September 28-October 8, gathering photographs for the website and other publications of the Dominican Development Group. During part of this trip, he will join a medical mission team from South Carolina to photograph their work in Angelina, an isolated village near the city of San Pedro de Macors. He also plans to spend two days in El Pedregal, the work location of Christ Church's mission teams, to visit with the families living in the two houses our June 2013 team helped to construct. He will post trip updates on his personal Facebook page, with a trip report coming later as a Vineyard article. Please pray for his safe travels.

2014 Mission Trip to the DR
Help choose the date
It is time to set the date for the 2014 Mission Trip to the Dominican Republic. In the past the leadership has set the date, but we have found that the dates have conflicted with family vacations and the high school camp schedule. In an effort to be more inclusive in planning, we are looking at two dates. May 31- June 7 and June 8-15 are the two dates under consideration. If you have a preference for one week or another, please let me know as soon as possible. The date for the 2014 mission trip will be set by October 10th.

We still have plenty of work to do in the school and in the community we have grown to love.We expect this year's trip to be as productive as in years past, and we know the people of El Pedregal are waiting for us to return. A link to the 2013 trip report is here.

Prayerfully consider your role in the 2014 mission.  Remember, God calls us to serve in different ways, but we all have a call to serve either on the Home Team or on the Go Team!

                               Blessings, Tar+

Project Lunch Bunch
Kick-off, October 5, 2013

Christ Church's brand new ministry, Project Lunch Bunch will kick off on October 5th.  Through this ministry, we will be delivering bag lunches and information on Saturday mornings to children who depend on the free school lunches during the week. We encourage all church members to get involved with this church-wide ministry through a variety of opportunities: bagging lunches, decorating bags, and delivering meals one Saturday morning a month. We will have a sign-up sheet in the Parish Hall starting on Wednesday. For more information, please contact Lauren Sandbach or (229) 630-2229.

Guice Hall Dedication - Honey Creek
October 6, 2013 at 5:30 p.m.

Guice Hall Dedication Planned at Honey Creek

On Sunday, October 6 at 5:30 p.m., Bishop Benhase will dedicate Guice Hall in thanksgiving for the contributions of Pam Guice and her family to the Diocese of Georgia as a whole and particularly to the Honey Creek Summer Camp Program. For decades, Pam was the foundation of the Summer Camp Program, serving as its director and guiding force. The building previously identified as Martha's Cottage is being renamed with the grateful thanks for the diocesan community. The diocesan community is invited to attend the dedication. If you would like to stay for dinner at Honey Creek, please call the Honey Creek office at 912-265-9218 to make a reservation and arrange to pay for the meal.

Thank You Christ Church

Dear Christ Church Family

Norma and I want to thank all of you who were involved in planning the surprise reception in the Parish Hall to mark our fiftieth anniversary on August 11, 2013.  Please believe us when we say that it was indeed a complete surprise.  We had no clue.  When we came to church that morning, we expected to celebrate the occasion much more quietly than we actually did.  The reception was well done, and the food and punch were excellent.  Our having celebrated the anniversary with our longtime church family made the day all the more special.

Our love to you all,

Norma and Joe Tomberlin

Dear Christ Church Family,

I want to thank you for so many different reasons for all that you did for me and for my family during my recent illnesses.  I truly believe that your prayers for me were instrumental in my recovery from two surgeries a month apart in July and August.  Many of you came to see me in the hospital, some of you multiple times, and your being there certainly cheered me.  Parishioners brought us a number of meals after I returned home both times, and for your feeding us, I am deeply grateful.  In addition, I received a great many cards and telephone calls, both of which were important to me.  The entire experience of a total of twenty days at South Georgia Medical Center and the reactions of the people of Christ Church demonstrated to me something of the greatness of the church family to which I am so proud to belong.  Please continue to pray for me as I begin a course of oral chemotherapy on Monday, October 7.

In Christian love,

Joe Tomberlin
