Greetings!
It's been a busy month at the United Way office. On March 13th we held our Annual Meeting at the University Plaza Hotel Ballroom. We were thrilled to see 400 United Way friends, volunteers and supporters in attendance. Thank you FLiP members for joining usl! We shared laughs, success stories, and a few grateful tears. Many awards were given at the event, including the Pillar awards given to individuals or organizations that represent the highest benchmarks in creating and sustaining a United Way Culture within their organization.

An Evening in Paris
Thanks to the leadership of co-chairs Cindy Norman and Pat Dierking, the 3rd annual FLiP Signature event "An Evening in Paris" is set to be the best yet! This year, more than a few things are different...
- We're changing venue from the Tower Club to the Springfield Art Museum.
- In addition to funding FLiP programs, designated proceeds from the event will fund an art scholarship for kids from title one schools.
- We want to make the evening relaxed and accessible to a broader range of people.
- We're opening the boutique for the First Friday Art Walk in June to promote the event, and showcase the boutique.
And we just started planning, there are so many new and exciting things to do with this event! But we need your help to make it the success that it can be! With so many different parts to this event, we need many different skills! We need you! Check out the list below, and if you have a few minutes to devote to FLiP, we'd love to have you!
- Do you know a business/individual that might be a sponsor?
- Do you know of a business/individual that would like to donate something for the silent auction?
- Are you good with spreadsheets?
- Do you like decorating?
- Are you good with technology and/or like putting together presentations?
- Do you have artistic friends that would like to donate their artwork for the live auction?
If so... let us know! Contact Megan Blevins or Cindy Howell at 417-863-7700. We can't do it without you!
If you would like to help ask for silent auction items, we've created an online spreadsheet for you to use. We'd like it if you could sign up for any businesses you ask for donations to the silent auction. You can sign up to ask a business that has donated in the past, or you can add a business that you would like to contact. We'd just like to know who you've asked. Thank you so much for your help!

We had a very moving meeting on Thursday. It began with the introduction of two new members from Chase Card Services. We're excited to have so many new faces in the FLiP circle! We would like to thank everyone who came to the meeting, it's always wonderful to get together with the FLiP group. Suit Yourself Boutique Update -Nancy O'Reilly Nancy mentioned the Boutique Spring Sale that is coming up Saturday, April 6th at the boutique. Please, invite your colleges, friends and family to come out and shop for a good cause. The Thursday after the sale, we will have a workday for the boutique. The work day will start at noon, and we'll meet at the US Bank on 417 E. St. Louis St. If you would like to help, you can sign up using the online spreadsheet. Speaking of US Bank, Laurie Adams mentioned again how fantastic the shopping day for US Bank employees was, and mentioned that they plan to have another day for their employees from Lebanon. If you know of someone (a co-worker, friend, or relative) that would benefit from shopping at the boutique, please feel free to have them call Janet Nothnagel at 833-3800 to set up an appointment. And as always, we need volunteers during the regular boutique hours, and you can sign up to volunteer using the online spreadsheet.
Program Presentation - OTC Middle College -Mrs. Amy Wood
 | | Mrs. Amy Wood |
OTC Middle College is a new United Way funded partner that works with students that struggle in a traditional high school environment. Amy shared some success stories, as well as what is coming up in the future for the Middle College.
OTC Middle College is a contemporary, academic pathway for students who are struggling within the limitations of traditional high school and may be ready for a more mature environment. Many under-performing students have greater academic abilities and could achieve their potential if given an opportunity in a different environment. Middle College is designed for the students who have historically lacked access to higher education such as First Generation College Students (FGCS), low income students, ethnic/minority students, and others that could benefit from an exceptional High School to College transition program. Students' with unique, individual life circumstances may find attending a non-traditional school more flexible to fit specific needs. Over 100 students attend Middle College from southwest Missouri. - www.otc.edu/middlecollege
