Relief Efforts for Hurricane Sandy
|
Those affected by Hurricane Sandy are still in need of aid. If you are interested in donating to relief efforts, please visit the website at Catholic Charities to help support the volunteers and workers who are there.
As always, let us keep Hurricane Sandy residents in our prayers.

Next week, we will offer 6pm student Mass in the Mabee Chapel instead of at SFX due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

Or, perhaps you would like to learn more about the Jesuits and the arts. That's an option, too!

Service Immersion
Leader Meeting |
Tuesday, November 27th, 4:30pm, Massman 248: Mandatory meeting for all service-immersion trip student leaders
|
CLC Leader Potluck is set for Wednesday, December 4th from 4:45pm to 6:00pm at the CMC. We'll share the joys, struggles and graces of this past semester over a nice home-cooked (by us!) meal.
Please let Bill know if you can attend and, if so, what you can bring so we don't end up with 15 pans of brownies (though that might not be a bad idea...)!

JV Reflection

Joining the Jesuit Volunteer Corps has been one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences in my life. Moving across the country to Boston to live in a vibrant city and work in a domestic violence shelter with Asian women was a scary thought for me. However, the support that I have received in my house has been incredible. I have the opportunity to go to work each day and work closely with women who have survived domestic violence situations. I get to help them through the struggles' of getting a restraining order, filing for a divorce, and applying for public housing and food stamps. I also get to just talk with them and learn how to make Chinese dumplings and help make the decorations for a Nepali ritual.
After work I get to go home to a community where we are able to share our thoughts on our day in an environment where everyone is going through similar experiences. We also get to share our ideas on religion and spirituality with one another. In community we all try to help build each other up and help each other grow through some of the difficult things that we are experiencing in our job.
These first three months have been a wonderful learning experience for me and I only hope that I continue to grow throughout my year as a JV.

This Week's Question: As we approach Thanksgiving, what are the blessings of last year for which you are most grateful?
Last Week's Answer: The "S.J" after a Jesuit's name stands for "Society of Jesus."
Send your answer to Cindy Schmersal by 9:00am on Wednesday. Of those students who respond, one will be chosen at random to receive a free (and delicious!) twister from the Pub. The winner will be announced in the following week's bulletin.
Last week's winner is . . . Brian Golka!

Thanksgiving Prayer
by: Cecilia A. Moore
This Thanksgiving let those of us who have much and those who have little gather at the welcoming table of the Lord. At this blessed feast, may rich and poor alike remember that we are called to serve on another and to walk together in God's gracious world. With thankful hearts we praise our God who like a loving parent denies us no good thing.
Amen.
