Annual Report

In January, the South Coast Task Force on Youth Gangs drafted its second Annual Report. The report featured highlights, challenges, and goals for 2013. The report was delivered to the Council at the January 16 quarterly meeting in Carpinteria. It can be found in the Resources page of the website.

January 2013 Quarterly Meeting

The quarterly meeting of the SCTFYG Council was held in Carpinteria and featured the Annual Report as well as a panel discussion by service providers. Task Force updates and highlights were provided by the Coordinator as well as the achievements of CalGRIP II. This was followed by a presentation about the South Coast Youth Intervention Project by Dr. Jill Sharkey. The group of service providers shared information with the Council regarding practices, funding, and needs. Members of the District Attorney's truancy program also were in attendance and had an opportunity to discuss the work they are doing throughout the County, including collaborations to address truancy in the upcoming year.

Service Provider Group

A meeting with the Service Provider Group is scheduled for Tuesday, February 26, 2013. The group, which  began meeting in 2012, has developed a number of strategies it would like to focus on in the upcoming year. Information from this meeting will be shared with everyone in a subsequent update.
