A Message from the Superior General
Dear Family and Friends,

The new school year is around the corner! It does not matter if you are working in a school or not, September always seems like a new year!

While we relished the activities of the summer (Retreat, Armchair Vacation, Service Projects, Community Days and Profession of Vows), the Community is looking forward to new activities and events beginning this month.

Multimedia features and our campus websites

This month, our multimedia features include photos and video from our 2015 Mass of Profession and the dedication of our new patio to welcome guests to our campus. You'll also find photos from the life and ministry of Sr. Rose Mary Heineck.

We hope that you continue to visit our website and the websites for the SSMO Ministries Corporation, the SSMO Foundation and Maryville.

The joy of our 2015 Mass of Profession
Although it was not the case in our early history, it has become a tradition in our Community for Sisters to profess their vows on August 15, the feast of the Assumption of Mary.

This year, as we celebrate the Year of Consecrated Life, we experienced the joy of Sr. Anna Nguyen professing temporary vows and Sr. Alison Green professing perpetual vows.

We invite you to learn more about our 2015 Mass of Profession. Our highlights include a photo album and video.
A special place to gather together
A new patio graces the east side of the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon Convent. It was blessed on Aug. 13 as the Sisters gathered for Community Days 2015. The next evening, the patio was filled with Sisters and friends for the 2015 SSMO Singles Bocce Tournament.

Meet the Sisters: Sister Rose Mary Heineck
"One day my older sister Mary, age nine, said to me, 'Do you know that God is the greatest in the whole wide world?' In great awe, I thought that since God is so great, I wanted to be His. I never forgot this 'big revelation' when I was about five years of age."

That's how Sr. Rose Mary Heineck describes her earliest memories of the journey that led her to the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon.

Meet SSMO Associate Lineah Barnett
"Becoming an Associate is an encouraging way to be in communion and praise - not just with other Catholics - but with a Catholic community."

In her own words: Lineah Barnett describes her experiences as an Associate of the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon.

Sharing coffee and connections with the Beaverton Chamber

Our campus was proud to welcome members of the Beaverton Chamber of Commerce during one of its popular "Coffee Connection" events.

In the past, we've held this event in the SSMO Convent or inside a school. This year, we took advantage of the delightful summer weather and greeted guests at the Valley Catholic Athletic Field

See you in September! Our golf tournament and alumni weekend

Summer is flying by and it will soon be time for two special events on our campus.

Our "A Whole in One" golf tournament will be held on Sept. 16 at beautiful Pumpkin Ridge Golf Course. Register now to join the Sisters "fore" fun in the sun.

Just a few days later - on Sept. 18 and 19 - our Alumni Weekend 2015 promises to be the best ever with a tailgate party, Valiant football game and "Drama Days" in the newly renovated Valley Catholic auditorium.
Winds and Strings: a benefit concert for the SSMO Ministry Fund
Winds and Strings - a delightful Celtic Band from Vancouver, Washington - will perform a benefit concert in the Valley Catholic High School Auditorium on Sunday, Sept. 20 at 3 p.m.

Donations will benefit the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon (SSMO) Ministry Fund, which provides charitable donations to organizations that our Sisters support through their volunteer work.

Saint Reflections: St. Robert Bellarmine
A promising scholar as a youth in Tuscany, he devoted his energy to Scripture and the study of church history.
