Kid mixers are always fun, and grown-up mixers are a great way to meet other MLS parents and catch up with old friends. Click here for a full list of mixers with tickets available, and contact Melissa Hoover at mhoover@bridgewater.edu to order.

mlspto.org Highlights for the Week

Today, Wednesday, March 30, beginning at 6 pm, the Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing to listen to your thoughts on the proposed budget. The hearing will be in Lane Auditorium at the County Office Building, located at 401 McIntire Road in Charlottesville. Click here for a Citizens' Guide explaining the FY17 Budget. If you are unable to attend the hearing, you may also email the Board of Supervisors at bos@albemarle.org. The proposed 2.5 cent increased tax rate significantly helps the schools but the entire proposed 2.5 cent rate increase must be approved in order for the division to see the entire benefit. Also, The Albemarle County Board of Supervisors, along with county and school division staff, will host community meetings during which residents will have the opportunity to offer their views on budget priorities. One meeting remains: Thursday, April 7, 7 pm, at the North Garden Fire Station.

As the weather warms up, don't forget to check the lost and found! The racks and bins outside the cafeteria are overflowing with abandoned treasures. Please take a look for your children's items next time you are at MLS.

From Dr. Irani: For parents who wonder about the best ways to support their child's math development, click here for an article authored by Jo Boaler, offering some excellent ideas.
