In the Spotlight
It's a race to the finish in our annual Box Top classroom competition! Parmelee's 5th grade class has a strong lead with 1,769. But there's still time! Will Kuhn's 3rd grade or Wilson's 4th grade be able to make up the difference? Or what about the six other classes that have over 900 Box Tops each! Click here for current stats. Remember - Box Tops must be turned in by Friday to count in the competition. Thanks for your participation in this contest. ALL of these teeny little Box Tops really add up and provide a nice fundraiser for our MLS PTO.

This Friday brings our next Kids Night Out! Let your kids join our fun-loving teachers on Friday, February 19, 6-9 pm for fun, games, and a movie. Click here to register online by Thursday at 5 pm, and make plans for a few hours of fun . . . both for kids (at school) and grown-ups (anywhere else)!

Bingo Night is just around the corner! Join us on Friday, February 26 from 6-8 pm in the MLS cafeteria. This is an all-ages event, sponsored by the MLS PTO, and is always great fun. Volunteers are needed to make the evening a success; click here to sign up! Prize donations are also needed; click here for more details.

mlspto.org Highlights for the Week

The Scholastic Book Fair comes to MLS February 29 through March 3! Volunteers make our fair a success. We need people to help children with their book selections and purchases; we especially need adult cashiers from 6 to 7:30 on Family Night, Wednesday, March 2. To check out all available opportunities, click here to visit our sign-up page.

Are you interested in being a part of the PTO leadership? Join us on Monday, February 22 at 8 am to find out more about how you can help. Whether you're looking to help with a one-time event, or have an all-year commitment; wanting to do something from the comfort of your own home, or something at the school -- we have the job for you! If you are unable to attend but would like more information, please contact Sarah Kelsey and Carleen Kupcis at vicepresident@mlspto.org

MLS Teachers Share PD Fund Experiences
The MLS PTO Professional Development Fund is already making a difference to our teachers and students. Please visit our PD Fund page and read our teacher testimonials about what's inspired those who have already attended a conference this year.

  • VIA Run For Autism 5K: Did you hear that the Run for Autism 5K had more smiles than any other race? You can make the Run for Autism 5K a special race, filled with heart and a feeling of community. Please join MLS families on April 16, 2016 to get a glimpse of the miracles you're creating and help the Virginia Institute of Autism make strides to a brighter future!
