In the Spotlight

From Andrea Atkinson: "A fellow librarian in Albemarle County is hoping to collect enough books to put one or two in the hands of each of her K-5th grade students. I am working with her to collect a variety of gently used books to give to the students who crave new books but simply cannot afford them. I will accept book or cash donations anytime before February 12th." Click here for more details.

EZone Spring Registration
Spring registration is closed except for the following classes, which will remain open until Wednesday, January 20th at 6 PM: French, Pottertopia, and STEM Challenge 2. For more information or to register, visit mlspto.org/enrichmentzone.

The Golden Apple program is designed to honor outstanding teachers in public and private schools in Albemarle County and Charlottesville City. MLS winners in the last three years were Andrew Sherogan, Bonnie Carey, and Pat Atkins (who has since retired), so they are not eligible for this year's award, but the rest of our fabulous teachers are fair game. Nominate someone today! Click here for more details.

The annual MLS PTO Box Tops contest continues! The contest will run until February 19.
Click here for all the details. Leading our friendly classroom competition this week is Mrs. Oehler's 1st grade class with 198 Box Tops! Mr. Wilson's 4th grade class is in a not-too-distant second place with 189, and Mrs. Jackson's 1st grade class is bringing up the third spot with 161. Thanks for collecting and keep 'em coming!

Bingo Night is coming up on Friday, February 26 from 6-8 pm in the MLS cafeteria. Ready to get rid of the toys your kids never seem to touch? Need to re-gift unwanted gifts that you received over the holidays? We are looking for donations for Bingo Night prizes: pre-school and school age appropriate gifts as well as gifts for adults, but we will appreciate everything you can donate. Starting NOW, prize collection boxes will be located under the bulletin board near the pencils and in the front lobby.
