At Back to School Night Tuesday evening, the PTO announced three funding priorities for the year: year two of the Professional Development Fund for teachers, improvements for the playground behind the school, and support for the exploratory year of a World Languages Program at MLS. Highlights of the meeting can be found here. Dates for upcoming forums regarding the World Languages program can be found below and on the online calendar. Thanks (in advance!) for your support with these three exciting initiatives!

MLS PTO Garden Update and Kids Farmers Market: Parent volunteers, teachers, and students have been hard at work in the school garden! Click here for an update on their plans for a KIds Farmers Market Day on September 17th.

Art PrintArt Print, sponsored by the PTO and led by parent volunteers, is a program that brings art history lessons into MLS classrooms. Click here for more information on the program and how to get involved!

  • Albemarle County Candidate Forums: Three of the six seats on the Albemarle Board of Supervisors and five seats on the Albemarle School Board will be determined in the election on November 3. The County has scheduled candidate forums for community members; click here for the full schedule.
     
  • WeKids Orchestra: Fourth- and fifth-graders interested in playing a string instrument can participate in the WeKids Orchestra, a free program for students in the Western Feeder Pattern. Click here for full information and registration forms.
