Wednesday, Oct. 15th

coffee mug

The MLS PTO is happy to introduce Coffee & Conversation with Dr. Irani!  These monthly "coffee dates" are a chance for parents to learn about and share thoughts on current trends and initiatives that will impact MLS.  Our first meeting will be Wednesday, October 15th from 8:15 - 9:00 am at the school; the topic will be "Assessment for the 21st Century," with a focus on the Lifelong Learning Competencies and the need for non-traditional assessments (e.g., projects, performance tasks, portfolios, etc.).  In addition, part of the time in this first meeting will be spent identifying topics of interest for future meetings.

So, join us on Wednesday, October 15th at 8:15 am, and mark your calendar for subsequent sessions on November 19th and December 17th!

Box Tops turned in any time will benefit Meriwether Lewis, or you can wait and turn them in for credit during our classroom contest in early 2015.   Get creative and ask grandparents or other family members, friends, and neighbors to collect with you!   Please contact Brooke Reid at jandbreid@aol.com with any Box Tops questions.

Birthday Book Club: Deadline Oct. 3rd

yearbook

Don't miss out on this MLS tradition! Birthday Book Club (BBC) is a voluntary program sponsored by the PTO.  It supports our library and helps ensure that we have plenty of new and exciting books for your children each year.  Flyers went home in backpack mail last week.

The online information and registration form is now live and can be found here:

http://mlspto.org/committees/birthdaybookclub.html.  Note that new this year is an optional donation to support our new and popular summer library hours!  Be sure to honor your child with a birthday book by October 3rd.  Our "party" will be held in the spring and all BBC children will celebrate with cupcakes and be the first to check their special book out of our library.  Questions? Contact Kristin Wray at kristinwray@me.com
