PTO Parent Volunteer Form: Sept. 5th

Volunteer

Thank you to everyone who has already sent in their PTO volunteer form. We are so lucky to have an enthusiastic community of parent volunteers! If you haven't had a chance to do so, it's not too late! The MLS PTO welcomes volunteers to help with many school-wide activities and events. The Fall Fun Fair, Kids Market, Family Game Night, Talent Show, Silent Auction, and Scholastic Book Fair are just a few examples of the many ways you can get involved in our wonderful school community.

To volunteer, please complete the light blue form included in the packet of materials you received at the Open House and return it via backpack mail. If you have misplaced your volunteer form, you can get it here or visit http://mlspto.org to print another copy. We'd appreciate having completed forms by Friday, September 5th so that committee chairs can begin contacting volunteers, particularly for fall programs.  Questions? Contact Jerilyn Teahan: jerilynt@gmail.com .

Thank you for getting involved!

Welcome School

Many thanks to PTO volunteers who helped welcome MLS newcomers and teachers last week: Bridget Baylin, Katie Rowe, Laura Steenburgh, Kelley Hathaway, Melissa Powell, and Caroline Stokes!

Thank You Landscape Volunteers!

Special thanks to the families of Mark Thompson, Matthew Gibson, Anzhela & Jim Greene, Tim Kelsey, Nicole and Craig Group, James Ray, Amelia and Drew Walton, Kristina and Eric Parker, Dawn Cleveland, and Zeke and Jeni Galvin for their hard work in the rainy drizzle last Saturday. They expertly trimmed hedges, weeded, and spread mulch around the MLS campus and it looks beautiful. We greatly appreciate the efforts of this hard working crew.

MLS Garden Plot comes to life!

Another special thank you goes out to Zeke and Jeni Galvin for donating their time, equipment, and COMPOST to the Meriwether Lewis Vegetable Garden (under construction).  Zeke and his family tilled the soil and donated and spread the compost. This coming weekend the UVA service Fraternity, APO, will construct the fence and then the garden will be open for business! Stay tuned to your teachers' announcements about any future garden work within their classrooms.

Why join Cub Scouts? Scouting is not only FUN, but as a parent you can be assured that Cub Scouts:

In recent years, scouts in P114 have toured CARS, Crozet VFD, NBC29 television studios, and Whole Foods Market; spent the night on a WWII submarine; participated in camp-outs and "camp-ins" at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory in Greenbank, WV, the Air & Space Museum in Norfolk and the Aquarium and Marine Science Center in Virginia Beach; and completed service projects at Ivy Creek Natural Area and Beaver Creek Reservoir. We have another great year planned for 2014-15!
