Open House: Monday, August 18th

Popsicle Playdate: Sunday, August 17th

Rising Kindergarteners and their families are invited to a Popsicle Playdate on Sunday, August 17th, 3:30-5:00 pm on the front playground. This is a great opportunity for the littlest MLS-ers (and their parents) to meet new friends before the big day! Siblings are welcome. Back To School Picnic: Sunday, August 24th

Mark your calendar for our first-ever Back-to-School Family Picnic on Sunday, August 24th, 5:00 - 6:30 pm at MLS! Bring your own picnic food and enjoy time reconnecting with friends - fun for students AND parents! The Kona Ice Truck will be on site, with a portion of sales benefiting the PTO. (Please note that this is not a drop-off event for kids; parents must be on site during the picnic. Thanks!)

Welcome Coffee: Friday, August 22nd, 9am

Join the PTO for a welcome coffee at the school on Friday, August 22nd, 9:00 - 10:00 am. We welcome new and returning MLS parents!

Landscaping Workday: Saturday, Aug. 23rd

Our MLS campus needs your help to stay beautiful! Due to budget cuts, landscaping jobs like mulching, weeding, and pruning are falling to the MLS PTO. So roll up your sleeves and join us for a landscaping workday on August 23rd at 9:00 am. Bring the kids and make it a family affair - breakfast will be provided!

Gifted Services Info Session: Sept. 9th, 5pm

On September 9 at 5:00, there will be an information session on gifted services in Albemarle County and at Meriwether Lewis. This session will provide an overview of how gifted services are provided in Albemarle County's collaborative model. Anyone who wants to know more is welcome! The most likely location is the library/media center. Look for a sign as you enter to confirm the location

PrE-Zone: Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

Great news! PrE-Zone is back this fall with Girls Just Wanna Have Fun! It's girls only as Mr. Williams will be rockin' the gym with your favorite tunes and activities!

Course Schedule: Course meets Fridays, August 29th, September 5th and September 12th from 2:30pm-4pm in the MLS Gym.

Course Price: $36/student

Grocery Programs Change

Kroger Cares Program

One of our larger fundraisers, the Kroger Cares program, has changed its structure and will no longer require that Gift Cards be reloaded to participate in the program. Starting September 1st, all Kroger shoppers can link their Kroger savings card to our school via the Kroger website and purchases will earn the school rebate cash (exceptions are items like alcohol and prescriptions). So, everyone who shops Kroger can participate, but you need to link your card in order to do so. Unfortunately, the PTO can not do it for you. Stay tuned for the link for our school (which will be provided around Sept. 1st). In the meantime, keep using those Kroger gift cards. That program runs through Aug. 31st.

Harris Teeter VIC card link!

Harris Teeter also has a cash rebate to schools program for our parents! However, every August 1st, all Harris Teeter shoppers need to relink their VIC cards to MLS! You can do this at any register or customer service or can go to http://www.harristeeter.com/community/together_in_education/link_to_your_school.aspx

to link your card. The school code is 3247.

Thank you for your support of MLS. These easy "once a year links" can really bring in some money for the MLS PTO and will help support your school, its teachers, and your children! For the past several years, the PTO has raised about $6000 through rebates from Kroger and Harris Teeter. We need your help to make that goal again this year!
