 Build YOUR Community's STEM Plan! 

Over 100 people have already attended the SE MA STEM Network's series of Fall meetings. The events at Cape Cod Community College (Nov. 1), Massasoit Community College (Nov. 7), and Bridgewater State University (Nov. 15) are over, but you can still register for the meeting coming up Dec. 5 at Bristol Community College in Fall River:

Presenters from School District Community teams will provide updates on their community's STEM progress since the Expo and share model programs. Attendees will be able to connect with resources to ramp up STEM activities in their schools and communities.

It's not too late to form a STEM Education Team for your school, district, or community! STEM Education teams have access to special services from the SE MA Network, including technical assistance to develop their own STEM initiative, and our newly-launched Corporate Partners program. Whether you offer professional development for teachers, weekend STEM programs for kids, or support for STEM entrepreneurs, there's a place for you in our directory! Saturday Science for Families 

Thornton Burgess Society, East Sandwich

December 1-29, 2012, 4:00-5:30PM
Families are invited to pre-register for these programs which include hands-on activities and exploration suitable for children ages 6-12. December is Mammal Month with topics such as Skulls and Bones and White-tailed Deer. Charge of $3 per person for members, $5 for non-members. Register by calling 508-888-6870. 25th Annual Science Poetry Contest 
Deadline: March 15th, 2013 
 
Dr. George Ladd and his research assistants at Boston College coordinate an annual Massachusetts Science Poetry Contest for students grades K-8. The contest encourages students to integrate writing and art with science and has drawn thousands of entries from Bay State school children over the past 23 years. Categories to be judged include Most Original, Most Humorous, Best Long Poem, Best Multi-Grade Poem, and Best Photo-Illustrated Poem (Grade 6-8 only). Hall At Patriot Place Seeks STEM Teacher of the Year

Deadline: February 15, 2013

The Hall at Patriot Place presented by Raytheon will honor a Massachusetts STEM teacher (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) next spring as its first STEM Teacher of the Year. The winner will receive a $5,000 grant for his/her school and will be honored at The Hall at Patriot Place, and in a pregame ceremony at a New England Patriots game. All full-time certified K-12 classroom STEM teachers in MA public or private schools are eligible. Nominations must be submitted by someone with a direct knowledge of the teacher's impact. Winter Tree Identification 

Lloyd Center for the Environment, Dartmouth

During this 90-minute program, go on an outdoor walk and learn tree identification skills to use when spending time outside. Whether you are new to tree identification, or a seasoned veteran, the Lloyd Center for the Environment will put your skills to the test!
