Topical issues and prospects of bilateral trade, economic and investment cooperation between Uzbekistan and France were discussed by representatives of Uzbekistan's Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade and the head of French diplomatic mission in Tashkent, Jacques-Henri Els.
Results of the sixth session of the Uzbek-French intergovernmental trade and economic cooperation commission, held in July in Tashkent, were also discussed during the meeting, according to Uzbek ministry's message.
During the meeting of the intergovernmental commission, it was noted that both Uzbekistan and France attach great importance to expanding and deepening the mutually beneficial trade and economic, investment, financial and technological cooperation.
In particular, Uzbekistan is interested in purchasing high technology, modern and reliable French equipment, while France is interested in intensification of cooperation in agriculture and tourism industry with Uzbekistan.
An intergovernmental agreement on air traffic, a cooperation agreement between Uzbekistan Railways and France's ALSTOM, as well as a memorandum of intention on joint production of vaccines by France's Sanofi and Uzbekistan's Uzfarmsanoat were signed after the meeting.

The German automobile concern MAN Truck & Bus AG and Uzbekistan's Uzavtosanoat automobile company will launch the production of cabins for heavy vehicles this September in Samarkand, the Jahon information agency reported.
The production facilities will be installed on the basis of the joint Uzbek-German enterprise JV MAN Auto Uzbekistan. Modern technological equipment has been purchased from German and Italian manufacturers.
Production of cabins for German trucks will be split into three stages: welding, painting, and assembly. At the first stage it is planned to purchase metal panels from the Chinese company Sinotruk Import & Export Co Ltd and then weld them to the frame. At the next stage the frame will be covered by special corrosion-resistant substance and finally painting will be done at the Samarkand automobile plant. Then the cabins will be delivered to the joint venture, where they will be given their final internal and external appearance.
Up to 3,000 heavy vehicle cabins will be produced annually at the plant. German specialists will be monitoring the quality of the product.
The organization of cabin production in Uzbekistan will help increase the export of vehicles made in Uzbekistan, as the cost of manufacturing the end product will be reduced along with its price.
This is not the only localization project for MAN in Uzbekistan. The company plans to master the production of stamped, metal and plastic automobile parts by the end of 2018. In 2020 the company will also produce in Uzbekistan the interior and exterior of cabins, propeller shafts, radiators, fuel tanks, steel wheels and other components.

Please join us at the 2016 U.S.-Uzbekistan Annual Business Forum in Tashkent, which is a signature event by the AUCC member-companies.

The AUCC delegation to Uzbekistan will be led by the chamber's Chairperson Carolyn B. Lamm and President Steven T. Nadherny.  We are pleased to announce that Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce Michael A. Lally will travel to Uzbekistan with AUCC member-companies to give stronger boost to our efforts and further promote bilateral trade dialogue.  Minister of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade, Elyor Ganiev, is expected to represent the Government of Uzbekistan.

"We are delighted to take our signature event to Uzbekistan this year and have DAS Michael Lally's support and participation.  Without a doubt, AUCC is the best example of the Private-Public Partnership and the most effective conduit for the US bilateral trade with Uzbekistan. AUCC has successfully channeled our assessment and vision of the country's technological and industrial modernization through the forum and used it as a platform to declare our readiness and will to better serve the interests of the American and Uzbek peoples," said AUCC Chairperson Lamm. "The chamber sincerely hopes that our commercial aspirations will continue to be supported by the Governments of the US and Uzbekistan that have both outlined business and commerce as a pillar of their bilateral agenda.  We are grateful to DAS Michael Lally for his leadership and attention to this part of the world," added AUCC President Nadherny.

AUCC is a private, non-governmental, 501 (c)(6) trade association that was established in 1993 in Washington, DC.  The chamber is the oldest business group in the US and the Republic of Uzbekistan that exclusively represents commercial interests of the US corporations before the governments of our two countries.
