2014 Opens a New Era for the Chamber

Since 1993 the American-Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce has been at the forefront of advancing trade and business relations between the US and the Republic of Uzbekistan. AUCC prides itself in catering to the needs of our members, providing them with a platform to interact with policy makers in the US and the Republic of Uzbekistan and ensuring that bilateral commercial relations continue to be on the governments' top agenda.

For the last twenty years AUCC has been a vigorous advocate of the views of the business community to ensure that private sector positions are considered during the development of policies that impact American businesses and the future of U.S.-Uzbekistan relations.  While 2013 concluded our celebrations for the 20th anniversary it also opened a new era for the chamber and our members.

We are delighted that today AUCC is a well-known organization that is recognized for its strength and ability to work closely with a great number of partner organizations. AUCC enjoys excellent working relations with the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Washington, D.C., the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Uzbek ministries, associations and organizations as well as the executive and legislative branches of the U.S. AUCC also coordinates its efforts with a great number of international financial institutions, business councils and other professional organizations.

We thank you all for your support and engagement and look forward to another year of progress and business successes.

AUCC Member, Sustainment Solutions Inc, Receives 2014 Blue Ribbon DREAM BIG Small Business of the Year Award

On February 20, 2014, Sustainment Solutions Inc (SSI) was selected to receive the 2014 Blue Ribbon DREAM BIG Small Business of the Year Award. This award recognizes SSI as one of the top 100 small businesses in the United States by the US Chamber of Commerce. Out of the 100 companies that were selected across the US, SSI is the only Kentucky based company to receive this award.

According to the US Chamber, "this year's 100 winners were chosen from a record number of applicants and distinguished themselves through their professional accomplishments, community leadership, philanthropy, customer service, and employee relations."

SSI is a veteran-owned security integrator with a focus on construction, installation, maintenance and training worldwide. With Scott Shinn as President/CEO, SSI maintains strong moral values and ethics, while achieving triple digit annual growth, which are the driving force behind the company's success. SSI's success is also a joint collaboration with local, state and federal representatives: Congressman Brett Guthrie, Garrard County State Representative; Jonathan Shell, and Garrard County Judge/Executive; John Wilson.

As an entrepreneur, Mr. Shinn always welcomes new business opportunities, and in doing so, he makes it a priority to serve not only the local community but communities outside of Kentucky as well. Recently, SSI organized and shipped 5 large boxes which included food, clothing, bath essentials, and books to Djibouti. The items were distributed to children and families in need. Locally, SSI employees also spend time outside of work supporting non-profit causes both in and outside of the local community such as the Boyle County Senior Center in conjunction with Unity Baptist Church, Wilderness Trace Child Development, American Legion, Garrard County Youth Sports, Kentucky Boys and Girls Ranch Golf Scramble, Bluegrass Tomorrow, Journey Community Church Food Bank, Garrard County Schools Dodge-ball Tournament, Kentucky District Export Council, World Vision, Garrard County D.A.R.E. Program, International Book Project,  Garrard County Chamber of Commerce, and U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

"God has blessed my wife and I as leaders of a company which is comprised of dedicated and talented team members who are thankful that their accomplishments are so prestigiously honored by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce on the national stage," said Scott Shinn, President/CEO of SSI.

This June, SSI will travel to Washington, DC to be recognized at the Small Business Summit hosted by the US Chamber of Commerce. In addition, SSI has the potential to receive the "Community Excellence Award" which is determined by the support of voters from the local community. Please show your support for SSI by submitting your vote at: http://www.uschambersummit.com/ceaaward.
