Uzbekistan's Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Federal Republic of Germany Aristide Emil Fenster on Tuesday, completing his mission in the country, Foreign Affairs Ministry press-service told.
"During the meeting the parties discussed current state of Uzbek-German relations, prospects of deepening bilateral cooperation in political, trade and economic and other spheres", press-service statement said.
Personal contribution of the Ambassador in strengthening multifaceted dialogue between Uzbekistan and FRG was noted at the meeting.
Germany is one of the main trade partners of Uzbekistan in Europe. The investment projects worth over one billion euros have been implemented in Uzbekistan together with leading German companies.
The German government has allocated to Uzbekistan more than 300 million euros in the framework of financial and technical cooperation, including 248.2 million euros within financial cooperation, and about 58.4 million euros within technical cooperation between the states.
Over 100 enterprises ,established with the participation of German investors, operate in Uzbekistan, representations of over 50 German firms and companies are accredited. According to official statistics of Uzbekistan, in 2012 Uzbek-German trade turnover constituted $497.2 millions.

The Central Asian country of Uzbekistan is expecting to produce 1.1 million tons of processed cotton in 2013, to maintain the production at the level of 2012.
According to the Uzbek Cotton Industry Association (Uzkhlopkoprom Association), raw cotton harvesting for the current year is predicted at last year's harvest level of 3.35 million tons, reports Azer News.
In 2012, Uzbekistan's raw cotton harvest was 3.35 million tons which was 4.5 percent lower compared to the harvest in 2011 when the production of processed cotton had decreased by 0.6 percent to 1.095 million tons.
Uzbekistan is the sixth largest producer of cotton in the world and holds the second position for exports of the product.
Annually the country produces around 3.5 million tons of raw cotton and around 1 to 1.2 million tons of processed cotton.
Of the total cotton production, 95 percent are medium fibre bred varieties with a fibre length of 32 to 33 millimeters, whereas the rest are long fibre with a length varying between 36 to 39 millimeters.

Uzbek and Japanese officials August 22 signed an agreement for Japan to lend almost 35 billion JPY (US $353.9m or 749.2 billion UZS) to modernise the Navoi thermal power station, UzDaily.uz reported.
The project will involve building a second gas combined cycle plant to meet growing electricity demand, according to the Japan International Co-operation Agency website. The 450MW structure construction (including a gas compressor station) will take two years, UzDaily.uz reported.

On September 5, 2013, the American-Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce (AUCC) will officially celebrate its 20th anniversary of building durable relations between the USA and Uzbekistan. The chamber's celebration will coincide with the 2013 US-Uzbekistan Annual Business Forum, an annual event that is fully organized and sponsored by AUCC members, including: Cameco Corporation, Case New Holland, Lockheed Martin, The Coca-Cola Company and FMN International, Inc. AUCC is proud to have the Ronald Reagan Building & International Trade Center as one of the event sponsors.
The Uzbek delegation to the forum will be led by Minister of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade, Elyor M. Ganiev.
Minister Ganiev will be accompanied by senior Uzbek government officials, including:

The 2013 US-Uzbekistan Annual Business Forum is viewed by the chamber as an opportunity to call for stronger business engagement between the US and Uzbek Governments in order to help American and Uzbek people further improve their socio-economic situation and achieve greater financial prosperity. The forum alternates annually between Tashkent and Washington, DC.
