Invitation to Attend

2013 US-Uzbekistan
Annual Business Forum

8.30 am - 3.00 pm

Thursday, September 5, 2013

Washington, DC

On September 5, 2013, the American-Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce (AUCC) will celebrate its 20th anniversary of building durable relations between the USA and Uzbekistan. The chamber's celebration will coincide with the 2013 US-Uzbekistan Annual Business Forum, an annual event that is fully organized and sponsored by AUCC members, including: Cameco Corporation, Case New Holland, Lockheed Martin, The Coca-Cola Company and FMN International, Inc. AUCC is proud to have the Ronald Reagan Building & International Trade Center as one of the event sponsors.

The Uzbek delegation to the forum will be led by Minister of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade, Elyor M. Ganiev.

UPDATE: Minister Ganiev is expected to be accompanied by senior Uzbek government officials (subject to change), including:

Shokir Fayzullaev - Chairman, Uzbek Oil & Gas National Company

Khamidulla Shermatov - Chairman Uzbek Chemical Industry State Company

Tokhir Jalilov - Deputy Chairman Uzbek Auto Industry State Company

Mirzanozim Dusmuratov - Chairman Uzbek Pharm Industry State Company

Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments & Trade and other government agencies (TBA) will also join the delegation.

The 2013 US-Uzbekistan Annual Business Forum is viewed by the chamber as an opportunity to call for stronger business engagement between the US and Uzbek Governments in order to help American and Uzbek people further improve their socio-economic situation and achieve greater financial prosperity. The forum alternates annually between Tashkent and Washington, DC. This year's forum will be held at the Pavilion Room of the Ronald Reagan Building located at 1300 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, Washington DC, 20004 (click here to register).

"As some of the key long time businesses with bilateral operations, our companies have the best and most advanced understanding of  how to do business successfully and what it takes to create a multitude of economic and employment opportunities. Recently, AUCC submitted a list of commercial and investment projects worth about USD 4 billion to the Uzbek Government which demonstrates an enormous potential by our companies to expand their partnership with the people of Uzbekistan. The list supports and substantiates our countries' quest for attracting more US investments in Uzbekistan", said Carolyn Lamm, one of the AUCC founders and present Chairperson. When asked about the forum's main theme, the AUCC Chairperson added: "This year's forum will largely focus on financial instruments and resources that can help existing and new US businesses enhance their success and expand their business plans for Uzbekistan. Presentations by the US Overseas Private Investment Corporation, US EX-IM Bank, International Monetary Fund, Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency and other financial institutions will help address questions on how to secure trade and investment financing, currency convertibility and investment guarantees available to the US private sector."

Throughout 20 years of successfully operating in Central Asia most populous market, AUCC and its members have gained the respect and recognition of the people of the US and Uzbekistan. The AUCC attributes it to the chamber's commitment to serve our people by creating venues and platforms, including the Annual Business Forum, where issues of interest to both countries are discussed in the constructive manner. "It is in our chamber's utmost interest to maintain the spirit of friendship, trust, confidence and constructive engagement that can help us identify areas of interest and business cooperation", stressed AUCC President Tim McGraw. "Our member-companies universally agree that building our business relations on a mutually beneficial basis will lead to more investment projects and trade and help us collectively expand the US-Uzbekistan cooperation", concluded the AUCC President.

Established in 1993 by a small group of US companies, today AUCC is a stronghold of the most famous and powerful American companies with active business presence in the Republic of Uzbekistan. The AUCC membership is diverse, including companies such as: The Boeing Company, Case New Holland, Cameco Corporation, The Coca-Cola Company, FMN International, Inc., General Electric, General Motors Company, Harris Corporation, Honeywell, Indsur Stelcor, Inc., Lockheed Martin, Merck Sharp & Dohme, Rio Tinto, Sikorsky Aircraft, Solar Turbines, Sustainment Solutions Inc., White & Case LLP and Zeppelin International AG. These companies are united by one common cause: promotion of trade and investment ties, cultural exchanges and bonds of friendship between the United States of America and the Republic of Uzbekistan.
