Faculty, Administrators Gather at North Central for NAC&U Innovation Summit |
Last week North Central College hosted 40 faculty members from various disciplines at an Innovation Summit to share ideas about how the institutions could collaborate. The three-day summit brought together professors from various disciplines to brainstorm and recommend to the NAC&U board ways in which the 21 member schools could help each other through collaboration. NAC&U Launches Online Course Inventory

How can NAC&U students explore the function of leaders as coaches and mentors, brush up on business communications and writing, and learn more about cybercrime? NAC&U is proud to announce its online course inventory, providing students with many opportunities to build unique educational experiences that help them achieve their goals. NAC&U Announces LEAP Partnership with AAC&U

NAC&U will leverage its members' collective mission - to purposefully integrate liberal arts, professional studies, and civic engagement - to partner with the Association of American Colleges and Universities' (AAC&U) on its signature national initiative, Liberal Education and America's Promise (LEAP): Excellence for Everyone as a Nation Goes to College. The collaboration will focus on the integration of liberal arts and professional studies. Read more.

Syrian Students Adapting to Campus Life at the University of Evansville
|
Accepting students from war-torn nations such as Iraq and Sierra Leone is not new for the University of Evansville, but this fall UE became one of only 35 institutions in a consortium dedicated to helping students from Syria continue their studies.
In response to the crisis in Syria, the Institute of International Education (IIE) established the consortium in an effort to recruit students from Syria who could no longer study in their home country. The IIE Syria Consortium for Higher Education in Crisis is part of a partnership among IIE, Syrian organization Jusoor, and the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT). Wes Milner, executive director of international programs at the University of Evansville, said that UE was able to move quickly on this initiative because of its smaller size. They turned around the material for the students in only six days, and this fall, eight students from Syria enrolled at UE through this program. Read more.

Dr. Nicolette DeVille Christensen Named President of Arcadia University |
On October 11, 2013, the Board of Trustees at Arcadia University announced the election of Dr. Nicolette DeVille Christensen as the twenty-first President in the University's 160-year history.
"The Board's decision was based on the quality of Dr. Christensen's consistent leadership and innovative vision demonstrated over the past seven months as Chief Operating Officer and the past five years as Vice President and Executive Director of The College of Global Studies," wrote Board Chair Chris van de Velde in an announcement to the Arcadia community. "The Board believes Dr. Christensen has proven the ability to provide strong and stable leadership." Read more.
