Texas is HOT --
for all the right reasons.

OK, summer time is officially here and so is the sweltering heat. But rather than dwell on the discomfort of the weather climate, we'd like to focus on why the Texas business climate is so hot.

  • For starters, Bridgepoint is expanding our offices to Houston! Read about John Sorrells, our Managing Director for Houston. Stay tuned for more sizzling details!
  • Texas has been ranked the best state to do business for the eighth year in a row, according to Chief Executive magazine's annual Best & Worst States Survey. The state has created more jobs than any other--about 250,000 last year.
  • Texas continues to receive good news as the unemployment rate improves. By December 2011, Texas replaced all 427,600 jobs shed during the recession as our economy rebounded more quickly than the U.S. as a whole. (Texas Workforce Commission)
  • Rev your engines...F-1 is coming to Austin in November! Get your tickets now!

These are just a few things that make Texas HOT. We hope you'll enjoy reading our news tidbits and client highlights, as well as our continued discussion of our core values spotlighting Teamwork. We hope that everyone is planning some well deserved vacation time this summer.

Best regards,

Manuel Azuara, Principal
Core Values Spotlight: Teamwork
by Manuel Azuara

If you want to build a ship, don't drum up people together to collect wood, and don't assign them tasks and work, but rather teach them to long for the endless immensity of the sea.

                      -Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Too often in organizations, teamwork is an assumption that a collection of brilliant employees will automatically "get it" and personify what it really means. Some believe teamwork merely means being cordial within their groups and helpful when possible, not realizing how it can make or break an entire organization.

At Bridgepoint, teamwork begins with creating a desire to help each other succeed. It's about sharing and personalizing the vision to be great. Not just with management, but with everyone. This not only translates to helping our clients extend their team to achieve success, but also internally, in our collective knowledge sharing and understanding that the more we lift each other, the greater the collective success.

We believe the constant sharing of our value-driven vision helps us all "long for the endless immensity of the sea." More core values

Five Signs You Might Need an IT Assessment
by Michael Johnson

Information Technology is often the ugly stepchild in an organization. It gets assigned to whoever seems to be the most tech-savvy, or else it lands on the CFO's lap since finance is so tech-driven. Many times, the executive that is responsible for IT has little or no expertise in IT.  So how do you know if your IT organization is performing well?

Click here for the five tell-tell signs.
