DOGMAN NEWS AND WORLD REPORT

For the week of ...
August 5th 2014
Puppyboy was dog-sitting my ex-dog Sophie last week. I went up to see him and we took my old girl on a hike. Sophie had gone for a ride in my truck virtually every day of her life, until the separation. When Mikey brought her to my truck she got very excited. She could not hup up to her seat so Mikey gave her a boost. She was very excited and licky to see me....however on our walk she only had eyes for MikeySophie has gotten very fresh since we split up! She would respond to my commands with jerk of surprise and obey. But the bond we once had is broken. She would not look towards me. I have not see her in almost a year.  I very rarely saw her the year before that. So do dogs remember their owners...yes and no....not like you remember your dog. I took some photos of her. She is only showing a little of her age. One mercy is that I do not have to see her get old and die. Prettiest dog in the world.

I got to spend time with Puppyboy last week. He was watching Sophie for Ulysses. I went up to Dorchester picked them up and whisked them away to a hike at World's End Hingham. This beautiful Park has tree lined carriage tracks, wonderful views of Boston across the water, and a stunning rocky coastline.

While at the Fair a couple of weeks ago Sandi and me posed for this photo. I was surprised by how well it came out! We are still having fun. Our weekend calendar of events keeps growing. It is very nice! We took Dogboy out for his traditional Birthday Lobsters. Alex is growing a beard. I call him Diego when he has one. He can grow one in a couple of days. I do not like it. It will get itchy and he will shave it off. I would have a fu manchu if I could get away with it. I liked how I looked in it....but it made me look mean. People looked differently at me when I corrected their dogs. I had to shave to keep my clients good will.

This is how most Cops think of dogs:
Three years ago  Sgt. Baumann founded the nonprofit Ghetto Rescue FFoundation to help sick and neglected dogs on the streets of L.A. Three dozen L.A. and Orange County, Calif., police officers, firefighters, and volunteers staff the GRFF, picking up injured, stray dogs they encounter on the job.

"It only takes five minutes to pick up a dog, and we keep a crate at the station," Baumann says. "About 10,000 police in 21 divisions of the LAPD know to call us if they find a dog in bad shape on the street, in an abandoned yard, or (in a) building, and at least once a day a dog is rescued by a cop."
He adopted Tippy ^ a recently rescued three legged dog!

A friend of mine has a new business:

Make it personal

He has a laser and can engrave an image on almost anything.

Dan put his dog's image on the box his dog's ashes are stored in.

I think it is a great idea. For more info:

This is a picture of Pickle. The little Chiweenie was found in quite a pickle. The tiny 8 week old was found in the North Carolina woods. The starving pup was estimated to have been in the woods for two weeks. She weighed only two pounds. Rescuers mistook her for a chipmunk! Kate Cook adopted Pickles after she was nursed back to health. Pickles has become an instagram sensation thanks to photos Kate posted.
