Killer whale lookalike 
sparks stranding outcry

A fancifully decorated crab pot in Boundary Bay may have unleashed a cascade of reports of a stranded whale at Maple Beach, many with a creative spin.

Early spring book sale on this weekend

The Friends of the Point Roberts Library will hold their early spring book sale at the community center, 1487 Gulf Road, this weekend.

The sale will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday February 20, and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 21. In addition to books in a wide range of genres, the Friends will have board games, lots of VHS and DVDs as well as CDs for sale. Proceeds from the sale go to support programs and projects at the Point Roberts library.
Photo contest deadline approaching

Point Roberts Marina is holding a Point Roberts photo contest and is offering cash prizes. Photos of life in Point Roberts - whales, eagles, beaches, fishing, crabbing, picnics and more - should be submitted by Friday, February 19.

Admission by suggested $20 donation, which includes a "No Towers" hat, while supplies last.
