With three lucky winners sharing the Powerball mega-jackpot, the Point will likely get a break from the throngs of lottery hopefuls that have clogged the border and lined up at two local retailers for a chance at $1.5 billion.

New positions on the parks board

The Point Roberts parks board commissioners elected Linda Hughes, l., to take over as chair of the local parks board at their January 11 meeting. Stephen Falk will serve as vice-chair.
School district seeks M&O levy

Ballots for the February 9 special election will be mailed to Whatcom County voters on Wednesday, January 20.
