Assistant fire chief John Shields was one of several presenters at the Second Annual International Remembrance Day Celebration sponsored by Whatcom County Fire District #5 on November 11 at the Benson Road Fire Station. Shields expressed his gratitude and pride for his son, who has served in Iraq and Afghanistan, and for all the other men and women in both the U.S. and Canada who have served their countries.

Holiday fair seeks donations

The Holiday Gift Faire is looking for prize donations for its fundraising raffle.

Held at the community center on Saturday and Sunday, December 5-6, the fair will feature the work of local artisans and collectors, as well as hot lunch from the Point Roberts Senior Center. The raffle will raise funds for the Point Roberts Library Building Fund and the Point Roberts Historical Society.
