Toni Levi is the lucky winner of the Friends of the Point Roberts Library quilt raffle at the September 5 book sale at the community center. The antique quilt was donated to the group and the raffle raised over $1,000 to support the library building fund.
Whidbey Telecom files 
formal objection to radio towers

Whidbey Telecom has joined a line of formal and informal complainants to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), asking they only approve BBC Broadcasting's application to renew station authorization for KRPI if the company abandons plans to broadcast from a new five-antenna array they are proposing for Point Roberts.

Canada lifts import ban 
on poultry from Washington state


Canadian health officials have relaxed their ban on poultry for four U.S. states that have been cleared from any signs of bird flu.

Burn ban fully lifted


As of September 4, The Whatcom County Fire Marshal's office has lifted all open burning restrictions in unincorporated county.

All fires on Point Roberts require a permit from the Point Roberts fire department. For recreational or land clearing permits, visit the fire hall at 2030 Benson Road. Get a residential permit at Nielson's Building Center, 391 Tyee Drive.
