Annette Loewen's lush Gulf Road garden is turning heads with mammoth sunflowers and gigantic zucchini. The garden is a family affair, with Loewen's children and grandchildren helping to grow, harvest, preserve and eat the bounty. Look for their sales table to be out this weekend, selling the overflow.

The Whatcom Marine Mammal Stranding Network (WMMSN) put out a call for people in Point Roberts to be trained to respond to marine mammal stranding and the response was impressive.

Book sale to benefit new library fund


Get ready for the granddaddy of all book sales at the Point Roberts Community Center this weekend on September 5 and 6. The book sales have been generating $200-250 per week all summer, said organizer Judy Ross, and benefit the library building fund. 

Golf tournament will 
raise funds for radio towers fight

The Point Roberts Registered Voters Association is hoping for an 18-hole shotgun start for their upcoming charity golf tournament and is looking for more golfers to make it happen.

Burn ban lifted on recreational fires


The Whatcom County Fire Marshal's office has lifted the ban on recreational fires in unincorporated county.
