U.S. Representative Suzan DelBene spoke at a Point Roberts Taxpayers Association-hosted town hall meeting on August 12. A crowd of approximately 40 people showed up with diverse questions ranging from political deadlock in Washington to the Iran nuclear agreement to how the Trans-Pacific Partnership Free Trade Agreement might affect Point Roberts (Answer - if the Canadians open up their dairy industry, the resulting lower prices might mean fewer people coming south to buy milk and cheese).

Members of the organizations that played a role in saving the life of Jim Graham who suffered a heart attack at the U.S. Port of Entry on June 7 attended a commendation ceremony at the Benson Road firehall on Wednesday, August 12.

Whatcom County Library System seeks trustees
The Whatcom County Library System (WCLS) is searching for applicants to fill a partial term that runs through January 31, 2017 on its board of trustees. The Whatcom County Executive will appoint the trustee, whose term begins immediately upon appointment.
